Joe Keery is back, but not to save the day. The Stranger Things star is ditching his Hawkins hero guise for a devilish new look in the forthcoming rideshare thriller Spree. The film hits VOD on August 14th via RLJE Films and they’ve just dropped a trailer. Directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko, Keery plays Kurt, a 23-year-old rideshare driver that’s hungrier than ever to go viral. So hungry, in fact, that he’s devised an uncompromising scheme that takes advantage of his passengers. R.I.P. John Saxon, A Nightmare on Elm Street Actor Dies at 83
John Saxon, veteran actor who fought both Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon and Freddy Krueger in three A Nightmare on Elm Street films, passed away in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Saturday, July 25th. He was 83 years old. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his wife confirmed Saxon died from pneumonia. Born to an Italian-American family in Brooklyn, New York, Saxon studied acting with Stella Adler and began as a contract actor for Universal in the ’50s and ’60s. His career took a major turn with 1966’s The Appaloosa, earning him a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for playing a Mexican bandit opposite Marlon Brando. Child’s Play Creator Don Mancini Shares First Teaser Trailer for New Chucky TV Series: Watch
Get ready for the return of the real Chucky. Child’s Play creator Don Mancini has confirmed that the long-awaited TV spinoff series — aptly dubbed Chucky — is officially heading to USA and SyFy in 2021. To celebrate, he’s shared a fun little teaser trailer below. Ben Stiller, Darren Aronofsky to Adapt Stories From Stephen King’s If It Bleeds
Hollywood continues to devour Stephen King’s latest collection If It Bleeds. Last week, it was confirmed that Netflix, Ryan Murphy, and Blumhouse are adapting “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone”. Now, according to Deadline, we know where the other stories are going. The book’s second story, “The Life of Chuck”, has been scooped up by Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa. So far, the veteran filmmaker is only attached to produce, but the surrealist trifecta of a tale would be a perfect fit for the brazen auteur. Next up is Ben Stiller of all people, who has optioned the fourth story, “Rat”. If all goes to plan, Stiller would both star and direct the film, which follows a troubled writer who makes a Faustian bargain with, well, a furry critter. Epic Friday the 13th Blu-ray Box Set Announced for October
This October, Jason Voorhees comes home in a big way. Today, Scream Factory officially announced an epic Blu-ray box set collecting every film in the Friday the 13th franchise — from the 1980 original all the way to the 2009 reboot. Set for release on October 13th, the 12-film, 16-disc collection will contain both new material and all the supplemental goodies from prior home entertainment releases.
