The 17-track full-length sees Public Enemy linking up with rap royalty, like Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock and Mike D alongside Run-DMC on the cut “Public Enemy Number One”. Los Angeles-via-Atlanta rapper Malcolm Jamaal Davis, better known by his moniker MadeinTYO, has been not-so-subtly climbing the ranks as one of hip-hop’s most exciting rising artists. While his breakout 2016 mixtape You Are Forgiven captured the attention of rap giants like Travis Scott, it was his debut studio album, 2018’s Sincerely, Tokyo, that proved he was worth keeping an eye on in the long run. Now, MadeinTYO is returning to the spotlight with “Money Up”, his new single featuring Toro y Moi. In just under three minutes, MadeinTYO makes a big splash over a weird, warped beat produced by Toro y Moi. Instead of showing off his speed or narrative abilities, MadeinTYO makes an impression here by rapping about financial security, body positivity, and knowing your worth — topics that he fl...
When he’s not hosting illegal, maskless birthday parties, Justin Bieber spends his days attending church and practicing Christianity. While he’s gone on the record to say he doesn’t consider himself “religious” per say, the pop star appears comfortable acknowledging his faith in song now — or at least that’s the case with “Holy”, his new collaboration with Chance the Rapper. Bieber teased the track throughout this week by promising fans it was the start of a “new era.” Sure enough, it features the usual bass-forward momentum of a pop song, but it’s guided by something completely fresh for Bieber: a gospel choir literally praising god. It’s anthemic and inspiring, the exact type of track that’s meant to be blasted full volume to get others to sing along. “Holy” also comes with a short film-...
Emerging singer/rapper Audrey Nuna has uncorked her new song “damn right”. This satirical stunt track is the first single from her forthcoming debut EP. Nuna grew up in New Jersey, releasing Instagram covers that eventually attracted the attention of manager/producer Anwar Sawyer. After high school, she split time writing with Sawyer and attending the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU. But soon, her studies had to give way to the real thing. Now 21 years old and signed to Arista Records, Nuna has released a string of buzzworthy singles, of which “damn right” just might be the best. Producer Nate Donmoyer has built a thumper of a beat, but with delicate synth touches which keep the track from sounding overly serious. Nuna kicks off with a slurred, chest-banging flow...
Conway the Machine has unleashed his new album From King to a GOD on Griselda Records. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. This is Conway’s third release of the year, following on his EP collaborations LULU (with The Alchemist) and No One Mourns the Wicked (with Big Ghost LTD). Those projects were short and hyper-focused. In contrast, From King to a GOD is an expansive effort, with the Machine picking grimy throwback beats from The Alchemist, Hit-Boy, Daringer, Erick Sermon, Beat Butcha, DJ Premier and more. The list of featured MCs is perhaps even more impressive, including Con’s brother Westside Gunn, his cousin Benny the Butcher, and hard-hitting rappers Method Man, Freddie Gibbs, DeJ Loaf, Lloyd Banks, Havoc, Flee Lord, Armani Caesar, and El Camino. YoungBoy Never Broke Again, aka NBA YoungBoy, has unveiled his new album TOP. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. This new project is technically the Baton Rouge rapper’s second proper full-length album after 2018’s Until Death Call My Name, however, it follows a very long list of EPs, mixtapes, and collaborative projects. In fact, it’s YoungBoy’s third release in 2020 alone, coming just months after the ‘tapes Still Flexin, Still Steppin and 38 Baby 2, shared in February and April, respectively. In keeping with this prolific nature, the 20-year-old has teased TOP with six singles: “Callin” feat. Snoop Dogg, “House Arrest Tingz”, “Sticks With Me”, “All In”, “Kacey Talk”, “Murder Business”, and most recently “Soul Stealer”. The album also promises a collaboration with Lil...

On the heels of announcing their greatest hits album, Beastie Boys have quietly uploaded their ’90s hardcore release Aglio E Olio EP to streaming services today. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. Aglio E Olio EP originally came out in 1995 via Grand Royal. Beastie Boys had just come off a string of excellent hip-hop albums, the most recent of which at the time was 1994’s varied Ill Communication, and realized they had written too many punk and hardcore songs for their next full-length. Instead of dumping the material onto Hello Nasty, which wouldn’t be released until 1998, they decided to release all of the tracks together as an EP. Spanning eight songs in total, the original Aglio E Olio EP 7-inch was hastily recorded in New York City in September 1995. Joining Ad-Roc...
Everyone knows Cardi B has WAP: a Willingness to Arrest and Prosecute. In a recent Instagram live, the hip-hop superstar recalled getting a Trump-supporting teen arrested after he revealed her home address on the internet. As The Independent reports, Cardi B spoke to her fans on Instagram about a wide range of topics, including Joe Biden, Candace Owens, and how her vocal opposition to Trump has made her a target of right-wing trolls. She said that after one person doxxed her and encouraged people to “put my house on fire,” she felt compelled to hire a private investigator. She explained, “Shit gets so intense that a Trump supporter posted my address and encouraged people to dox my home, to put my house on fire. I literally hired a private investigator, and served them with a warr...
Conway the Machine and Freddie Gibbs have done some things they regret on the new collaborative track “Seen Everything But Jesus”. It’s off Con’s upcoming album From King to a GOD, which drops tomorrow, September 11th. The cut is a Beat Butcha production, with simple, descending piano chords playing off the urgent click of drums. That’s Conway’s voice on the hook, but while the Machine may be singing, it’s definitely not autotuned. The whole song benefits from this off-the-cuff delivery, especially given the rawness of the subject matter. “Look, Lil Lotto got shot,” Conway begins, “Mikey B got shot (Pssh)/ Lil Jojo got shot, ChineGun got shot (Rest in peace, n—-s)/ I start my verse sayin’ they names to show we haven’t forgot (Uh huh).” This is context for the pained chorus, as Co...
A man who broke into Eminem’s Detroit home earlier this year reportedly told the rapper that he was “there to kill him.” Matthew Hughes, 27, appeared in a Michigan court on Wednesday, facing a felony charges of first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of a building. If convicted, he could receive up to five years in prison. According to Click Detroit, security footage shown in court captured Hughes sneaking around Eminem’s home and throwing a paving stone through his back window, allowing him to gain entry inside. Eminem was awoken when his alarm system went off and he confronted Hughes in his living room. Hughes was then “detained” by Eminem’s security guards, who heard the commotion and ran inside. Officer Adam Hackstock and Detective Dan Quinn testified in court that Hu...
