Finding the best pieces on the high street is hard work, even for editors whose job it is to do so. With so many websites and new-in sections to cover, it takes dedication and, quite literally, an entire team to ensure we don’t miss an incredible new drop or a soon-to-be best seller as we scroll. Another method we use to ensure we see every high-street piece going? Instagram. There’s a handful of influencers who we religiously follow solely for their loyalty to the high street (something we have in common), and we thought it was high time we shared them with you. Whether it’s uncovering the sleekest minimalistic items from Arket, spotlighting expensive-looking wardrobe essentials from H&M or unearthing the next cult buy from & Other Storie...
Confession: I am a lazy dresser. Between my tendency to get ready in a hurry and my reliance on a five-piece roster of wardrobe staples, the outfits that actually make the cut are, generally, fairly unimaginative. This is exactly why I love dresses. Slip one on and you’ve got an instant outfit ready to go once you’ve decided which shoes to wear. There’s no easier way to look put-together—a fact that is especially true this season thanks to the on-trend and expensive-looking styles landing on the high street at the moment. Coming in a handful of cool colourways—currently black, beige, red, light blue, green and lilac—this blazer has certainly earned its reputation for being a classic wardrobe staple, especially since it’s pretty darn seasonlesss and available to buy at Arket year-round. A popular versatile styling hack is to throw it over a simple jeans and T-shirt look, but I’ve also seen other fashion editors styling theirs with shorts and fisherman sandals, over midi, maxi and mini dresses, or with the matching Hopsack trousers for a polished suit finish. It truly comes into its own in autumn, though. Mine are from a few years ago now and I still wear both colours on repeat all season, usually with a thin cashmere knit either under it or tied around my shoulders, ...
Don’t get me wrong. I love affordable fashion. But it’s not often that a high-street collection is so good, so elevated, so on-trend, that it can easily hold its own in a runway show during one of the most famous fashion weeks in the world. COS just pulled that off with finesse, for the second time. The brand showed its A/W 22 collection at New York Fashion Week on Tuesday (it showed in London this time last year) with the city skyline as a backdrop and A-list models such as Paloma Elsesser showcasing the clothes. We’ve known for a while that COS was special and definitely on the more expensive-looking end of the high street, but in recent seasons—I think my fellow editors would all agree—the brand has taken it to another level with beautifully functio...
Despite forging a career for myself in fashion, I secretly find autumn a really difficult time to dress for. A dress girl at heart, I love how summer lends itself to floaty, oversized pieces that I just have to slip on with sandals and I’m set. I find so much joy in dressing for warmer months, and shopping is something I particularly relish between May and September. But when autumn hits, the nerves creep in, and I start to lose my confidence when it comes to new-season clothes. To combat this, there is one thing I always rely on as the leaves start to brown and the days get darker, and that is a solid bank of timeless, stylish and easy outfits that I feel good in. And for this, I head to the high street. One of my favourite destinations for this type of shopping is COS. Full of ...
This is a bold statement, but in my opinion, nothing is more useful in a wardrobe than the perfect striped jumper. Yes, you may feel like you’re cheating on your jeans by agreeing with me, but the power of a Breton is unparalleled—especially on those mornings where you find yourself staring at your wardrobe totally uninspired. Throw it on with your favourite denim or wide-leg trousers, over leggings, tucked into a mini skirt or tied around your shoulders. See! Versatile. However you choose to add it into your day-to-day outfits, one thing’s for sure: It always makes them look chicer. The Breton has, of course, been a hero piece in the most stylish wardrobes for years and remains the linchpin of every French woman’s capsule collection. One of the key reasons t...

Shopping on the high street can be hit-or-miss; it’s a task that requires a willingness to sift through rails or pages of unexciting items. & Other Stories, along with COS and Arket, is a special exception because it makes the job so easy. Whenever I give into temptation and step into the beautifully curated Edinburgh store, my wish list grows in size after just a quick scan of the space. With the perfect mix of classic and unexpected designs, I find there’s something new to become obsessed with each time I visit. Perusing the website promises the same experience, with masterful styling that makes each piece feel like an essential investment. Of course, it’s important to be selec...
When it comes to shopping online, the sheer number of options can be seriously overwhelming. Without the ability to browse in-store and narrow down your options, you have to be ready to commit a lot of time to scrolling, and if you’re looking for a quick lunchtime fix or an easy browse, that can be a big ask. As one of my favourite compliments has always been “You found that where?” I’m known for my patience when it comes to rooting through the virtual rails of the online shopping world. Unearthing gems has become somewhat of a full-time hobby, and I want to put it to good use—helping you find some of the best pieces that the internet has to offer, all at the click of a button. And the first shopping destination on my list is affordabl...

Autumn collections are coming in thick and fast now, from both luxury brands and the high street. I swear every year they arrive earlier than the one before, but for once I’m actually so ready for colder temperatures and more layers. That might have something to do with the sense of renewal September always brings, but I have a feeling it’s also down to the calibre of the newness that’s arriving at some of my favourite stores. From gorgeous outerwear to sumptuous leathers and boots, glorious boots—my new season moodboards are already well under way. There is one new collection in particular that has seriously impressed me this week, though, and that’s H&M‘s. This autumn edit is so good in fact, that I’ve dedicated a whole article to it here because, put plainly, I need...
Fresh pre-fall and autumn drops are arriving from both the high street and designers, which means a whole host of new inspo and ideas for how we want to dress for this time of the year. There are three high-street brands, in particular, though, that we on the Who What Wear UK team always turn to first when it comes to new season: Arket, & Other Stories and H&M. And needless to say, they have seriously impressed us for September Key autumn buys inevitably sell out further into the season, so now is the best time to snap them up, and there’s plenty here for you to choose from. We’re turning to the classics that can be easily layered up, such as blazers, knit dresses and vests that look just as good with sandals as the...
