HEALTH and composer-musician Tyler Bates have shared the new collaborative song “Anti-Life” featuring Deftones singer Chino Moreno. The track is the latest single from the forthcoming Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack from DC Comics and Loma Vista Recordings. The electro-industrial intensity of HEALTH combined with the cinematic sheen of Bates’ production makes “Anti-Life” an aural powerhouse. The sheer sound and fidelity is jaw-dropping. Topping it off are pristine vocals by Moreno, whose singing always works well in an electro/experimental context. Like the previous singles we’ve heard from the soundtrack — including Mastodon’s “Forged by Neron” and Chelsea Wolfe’s “Diana”, “Anti-Life” is inspired by the storyline of DC’s Dark Nights: Death Metal comic series. In the third issue o...
Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson has announced a new signature model Epiphone Les Paul electric guitar and shared two new songs, “Kabul Blues” and “Spy House”. The tracks appear to be the first new music from Lifeson since the passing of Rush drummer Neil Peart in January 2020. The Alex Lifeson Epiphone Les Paul Standard Axcess electric guitar is the culmination of an extensive collaboration between Lifeson and Epiphone’s parent company Gibson. The guitarist added his signature touches to the classic Les Paul design, improving on an already legendary guitar. “The introduction of the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Axcess model based on my Gibson Les Paul Axcess model has all the same attributes and characteristics that I desired so much when we originally designed it,” Lifeson said in a press release on ...
Angel Du$t have surprise released their new EP, Bigger House, the follow up to last year’s Lil House EP. They also unveiled the music video to the track “Love Is the Greatest Thing” and fall tour dates with Mannequin Pussy. The song’s title suggests a ballad, and sure enough, it’s Angel Du$t unplugged, for the most part, with lush acoustic guitars and singer Justice Tripp’s clean vocal delivery. It’s surprisingly tender from the band known for mosh-ready melodic hardcore, but also displays their versatility as musicians. The track features subtle turntablism from LA producer Shlohmo. The Bigger House EP was produced by Rob Schnapf, known for his work with Elliott Smith and Kurt Vile. Perhaps the producer unleashed Angel Du$t’s inner singer-songwriter, as the lead single implies. The clip for “How Many Times?” was directed by Roger Kupelian, who is known for his visual effects work on The Lord of the Rings and X-Men. Kupelianalso previously worked with Tankian on the clips for “Honking Antelope” and “Reconstructive Demonstrations”. “It’s amazing to be working with my good friend Roger Kupelian again whose images of the two kings (The Argonath) in The Lord of the Rings are stamps in New Zealand,” Tankian said in a statement. “He also directed ‘Honking Antelope...

To celebrate the latest single, “Watering the Well”, the band has announced a limited-edition beer in a partnership with Fall Brewing Company. The new song is another scorcher in an ongoing series of singles that the band is also releasing on separate 7-inch vinyl. Let’s just say, the galloping pace and rousing anthemic vocals won’t sound worse after a few beers. “‘Watering the Well’ is equal parts rock ‘n’ roll rendezvous and back alley Bronx beatdown,” Bronx vocalist Matt Caughthran said in a press release. “With an opening riff that doubles as...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-27T16:00:52+00:00“>May 27, 2021 | 12:00pm ET Heavy psych act King Buffalo are set to release The Burden of Restlessness on June 4th — the first of three full-length albums they have planned for 2021. Ahead of the first LP, the Rochester, New York, trio is premiering the video for the single “Silverfish” exclusively via Heavy Consequence. Stoner rock connoisseurs might be familiar with King Buffalo from their 2016 debut Orion and 2018’s excellent Longing to Be the Mountain. Before the pandemic, the band was active on the Northeast touring circuit, frequently driving down to appear on bills in New York City. It appears all the practicing and live sets paid off — especially if ...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-21T14:48:12+00:00“>May 21, 2021 | 10:48am ET Stöner, a new project from former Kyuss members Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, have announced their debut album, Stoners Rule. The seven-song LP arrives June 25th via Heavy Psych Sounds, and has been preceded by the single “Nothin’”. Kyuss are considered pioneers of the desert/stoner rock style, and Oliveri and Bjork are fully embracing the “stoner” tag with their new outfit, hence the band’s name. The single “Nothin’” dabbles in sludgy riffs, meditative repetition, and a general 420-friendliness. The desertscape on the album cover also calls back to Kyuss’ legendary 1992 album, Blues for the Red Sun. In addition t...
