The Swedish metal band has offered up the cinematic music video for the new stand-alone single “Put Your Back into the Oar.” It’s a galvanizing slice of Viking-inspired heavy metal, one that will surely be a crowd favorite at Amon Amarth’s vibrant live shows. The accompanying clip, shot over three days in England, brings the song’s mythology to life. The track is the first new Amon Amarth composition we’ve heard since 2019’s Berserker. Foo Fighters Go Extreme Metal on New Song “March of the Insane”: Stream
Foo Fighters have unleashed their inner extreme-metal inner selves on the new song “March of the Insane.” Released under the band moniker Dream Widow, the song conjures up early thrash reminiscent of Venom, Slayer, Celtic Frost, and other likeminded acts. While Foo Fighters’ new horror movie, Studio 666, doesn’t arrive until February 25th, it’s probably safe to assume that Dream Widow are a fictional band referenced in the film. The movie is centered around the Foos’ attempt to record a new album in a haunted mansion. Ho99o9 Announce New Album and 2022 Tour, Share “Nuge Snight”: Stream
Ho99o9 (pronounced “horror”) have unveiled their new album Skin, produced entirely by Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. They also shared the lead single “Nuge Snight.” The record comes out on March 11th, prior to Ho99o9’s spring US tour. Korn have released their new album Requiem. It’s the 14th studio effort from the pioneering nu-metal band, and the follow-up to 2019’s The Nothing. Recorded during the pandemic, Requiem contains some added emotional weight to the songs, as heard in heavy, melodic singles such as “Start the Healing” and “Forgotten.” The members of Korn have been personally affected by the sinister virus. Dorothy Announces New Album and Tour, Unveils “Rest in Peace”: Stream
Dorothy has returned with a dramatic new single, “Rest in Peace,” as well as details on a new album, Gifts From the Holy Ghost, and a 2022 US tour. While Gifts From the Holy Ghost has no release date yet, a press release reveals that the album will arrive this spring. The headlining tour, meanwhile, kicks off March 21st in San Diego and runs through a May 19th gig in Anaheim, California. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster. Melvins have shared a cover of Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” featuring Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron himself. The cover hails from the Melvins’ mysterious Lord of the Flies EP. This thunderous version of “Spoonman” couldn’t be contained on a limited CD release, however, and the band has now made it available via YouTube.
