Mike Patton Reveals Battle with Alcoholism During the Pandemic

Mike Patton has once again opened up about his mental health struggles, revealing that he coped with alcoholism during the pandemic. In a new interview with The Guardian, Patton discussed the upcoming sophomore album from his hardcore-thrash supergroup Dead Cross, stating that it was “forged through COVID, cancer, and alcoholism.” Patton alluded to guitarist Mike Crain’s battle with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. Crain’s cancer eventually went into remission, with the guitarist crediting the making of the new Dead Cross album with helping save his life. Acclaimed metal act The Sword have broken up. The group’s singer-guitarist John D. Cronise made the announcement via the band’s social media pages on Thursday (October 20th), stating that “it’s time to bring The Sword’s long and storied career to a close.” The Sword earned a strong following and critical praise during their nearly two decades as a band, combining elements of stoner and doom metal into their six studio albums. Cro-Mags Announce December 2022 US Tour

New York hardcore legends Cro-Mags have announced a 13-date December 2022 US Tour. The outing kicks off December 6th at Shaskeen in Manchester, New Hampshire, and runs for nearly two weeks before wrapping up on December 18th at Underground Arts in Philadelphia. OTTTO, the young band featuring Tye Trujillo (son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo), have unveiled the song “My Pain” from their upcoming Record Store Day release Locos Live in Venice. Weedeater have announced a Fall 2022 US headlining tour with support from Telekinetic Yeti and Donnie Doolittle. The short run kicks off on November 10th in Johnson City, Tennessee, and runs through November 20th in Richmond Virginia. Original Alice Cooper Band Is Working on More New Music

The original Alice Cooper group has been collaborating together in recent years, and more new music is on the way. In a new interview, Cooper revealed that he’s once again recording with guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith (all from the band’s ’60s and early ’70s heyday), and they have about a dozen new songs in the works. Greta Van Fleet singer Josh Kiszka ruptured his eardrum during a concert in Bangor, Maine, on October 8th, forcing the band to postpone three upcoming shows. The band made the announcement on Monday (October 17th), letting fans know that shows scheduled for Raleigh, North Carolina (October 18th); Greenville, South Carolina (October 19th); and Jacksonville, Florida (October 21st) would be rescheduled for later dates. Filter Unveil New Song “For the Beaten”: Stream

Filter are back with their first new music in more than two years. The industrial rockers have released the new song “For the Beaten” after inking a new deal with Golden Robot Records. The track features Filter founder Richard Patrick’s soaring tenor screams over chugging guitars. “For the Beaten” will appear on Filter’s as-yet-untitled upcoming album, which is expected to arrive in 2023. The LP will consist of material that Filter have been working on throughout the pandemic.
