Trent Reznor has called Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter an “embarrassment,” and said he’s “about to depart” the social media platform. Since Musk closed the deal on purchasing Twitter, he has laid off half the company’s staff; instituted an $8-per-month blue verification checkmark fee; issued an ultimatum to the remaining staffers to either return to the office or quit their jobs (which he has since partially retracted); and reinstated Donald Trump’s account. ††† (Crosses), the duo featuring Deftones singer Chino Moreno and producer / multi-instrumentalist Shaun Lopez, have released a new song, “Sensation.” The track is the latest piece of music to be unveiled off the group’s upcoming EP, PERMANENT.RADIANT, out December 9th via Warner Records. “Sensation” arrives with a brooding music video, which features a recurring protagonist, actress Thais Molon, waking up following a car crash and trying to get a ride in the middle of a massive desert. Molon’s pursuits are paired with grainy live footage of the band in a narrow, dark alley. “Sensation” follows the previously released “Vivien,” which will also appear on the EP. Scott Dachroeden, a longtime guitar tech and photographer for Alice in Chains among other artists such as Tool and Rob Zombie, has died after a battle with cancer. A GoFundMe page had been set up for Dachroeden earlier this month as he battled stage 4 cancer. Dachroeden was diagnosed after he returned from a summer tour with Alice in Chains, for whom he had been tenured for 14 years. Dachroeden moved to the US from his native Australia over two decades ago with the hopes becoming a concert photographer and working in the music industry. He would find success both as a photographer and guitar tech, working with Alice in Chains, as well as Tool, Rob Zombie, Halestorm, Bush, and many more. Metallica celebrated late Megaforce Records co-founders Jon and Marsha Zazula with a special show earlier this month in Hollywood, Florida. The way young people are listening to music, whether at home or at a concert, can potentially result in wide-scale hearing loss across the globe. According to a new study, a range of 670 million to 1.35 billion teens and young adults are currently in danger of losing their hearing due to unsafe listening practices. The study, published by the BMJ Global Health Journal, is titled “Prevalence and Global Estimates of Unsafe Listening Practices in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.” It researched the effects of listening to music through personal listening devices (via headphones and earbuds) and attending live shows at entertainment venues such as arenas, theaters, and bars.
