Concert Review: Korn Deliver “Monumental” Livestream Performance

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-26T16:38:47+00:00“>April 26, 2021 | 12:38pm ET Setting the Stage: Like most artists who released new albums in late 2019, Korn did not get the opportunity to mount a widespread tour in support of The Nothing – as the COVID-19 pandemic took care of that (particularly a summer 2020 outing that would have seen them co-headlining with Faith No More). So, why not a global streaming event? Titled “Korn: Monumental”, the performance was broadcast Saturday (April 24th) from the set of the interactive Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience in Los Angeles, and produced by Danny Wimmer Presents (known for rock festivals like Sonic Temple, Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and more). Taking ...

The September fest takes place at the Ohio State Reformatory, an old prison made famous as the location of the movie The Shawshank Redemption. In addition to the aforementioned headliners, the September 10th-12th event also boasts such acts as Mastodon, Halestorm, Killswitch Engage, A D...

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-19T19:29:41+00:00“>April 19, 2021 | 3:29pm ET Death metal titans Deicide have announced a US summer tour with direct support from fellow extreme metal veterans Kataklysm. Internal Bleeding and Begat the Nephilim will also be along for the month-long trek. Judging by the August dates, the bands and venues apparently feel things will be safe enough to tour by late summer. Just yesterday it was announced that over half of U.S. adults had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Kataklysm’s Maurizio Iacono said that people getting vaccinated is one of the reasons for moving ahead with the tour — one of the first major U.S. metal packages to be announced since the pandemic be...

Punk in the Park 2021 U.S. Festivals to Feature Pennywise, NOFX, The Vandals, Face to Face, and More

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-14T19:03:07+00:00“>April 14, 2021 | 3:03pm ET In another sign that things are opening up on the festival front, a pair of events dubbed Punk in the Park will take place this May and November in Arizona and California, respectively. Each will feature a lineup of notable punk bands. Originally, the two-day California edition, Punk in the Park – Orange County, was set to be the inaugural version of the new fest, but pandemic restrictions led organizers to move the original 2020 dates to April 2021 and then again to November 6th and 7th at Oak Canyon Park. That makes the one-day Punk in the Park – Arizona event, taking place May 29th at Big Surf Water Park in Tempe — the first stagin...

Concert Review: Philip Anselmo Celebrates Pantera Classics and Deep Cuts with Livestream Show

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-10T16:53:18+00:00“>April 10, 2021 | 12:53pm ET Setting the Stage: Before worldwide touring was shut down due to the pandemic, Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals provided hard-hitting support on Slayer’s farewell tour in late 2019 by offering up a set full of Pantera classics. But for obvious reasons, the band was unable to build upon the buzz in 2020. So, how about a streamed concert performance dubbed “A Vulgar Display of Pantera Live”? Sadly, the idea of a Pantera reunion is no longer feasible following the tragic deaths of legendary brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The band’s iconic singer, Philip Anselmo, has opted to keep the band’s spirit and music alive with these...

Motörhead’s Performance of “Rock It” Unveiled Ahead of New Live Album: Watch

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-09T15:30:34+00:00“>April 9, 2021 | 11:30am ET A visceral clip of Motörhead performing “Rock It” in 2012 has been unleashed ahead of the band’s upcoming live album and concert film, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin. It documents the band’s 2012 performance at the Berlin Velodrom. The song hails from the Motörhead’s 1983 album Another Perfect Day, a slightly more melodic excursion for the heavy rockers. “Rock It” sounded as strong as ever in 2012, opening with an impressive drum roll from Mikkey Dee before Lemmy Kilmister and guitarist Phil Campbell take it away. The German crowd, always receptive to a Motörhead show, loses it when the guitars kick in. Lemmy’s face remains semi-ob...

Rob Zombie, Korn, Staind, and More Announced for July 2021 US Rock Festivals

Organizers of two major US rock festivals are counting on a relative return to normal this summer, officially announcing the lineups for Wisconsin’s Rock Fest and Michigan’s Upheaval Festival today (March 31st). Rob Zombie, Korn, Staind, and Chevelle are among the bands set to play both fests, while the bigger Rock Fest will also feature Limp Bizkit, Snoop Dogg, Danzig, and more — provided that the events are able to go off as scheduled. Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin is a long-running annual event, while Upheaval in Grand Rapids, Michigan was supposed to stage its inaugural festival last year. Both were called off in 2020 due to the pandemic, so the 2021 lineups are fairly similar to the ones that were set for last year. The big difference is that Disturbed has dropped off both events and...
