While many bands are preparing to hit the road again this summer and fall, some veteran acts may have missed out on their last genuine opportunity to play for their legions of fans. Unfortunately, according to guitarist Brad Whitford, Aerosmith may be one of those bands. As it was, 2020 was slated to be a big year for Aerosmith. The band was set to continue its “Deuces Are Wild” Las Vegas residency well into the latter part of the year, and was also scheduled to perform a massive hometown 50th anniversary show in Boston’s Fenway Park. The 50th anniversary con...
Jeff Bridges is three months into his battle with lymphoma and is “feeling good. What’s more, he adopted a puppy. The Big Lebowski actor marked his 71st birthday by posting a brief health update to his website. Alongside a photo of himself and his new pup Monty, Bridges also revealed that he shaved his head. In October, Bridges announced that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma. “I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good,” Bridges said at the time. “I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.” Being The Dude that he is, Bridges dedicated the rest of his blog post to lifting up others. He encouraged his fans to check out the music of his lifelong friend John Goodwin and asked for donations on behalf of No Kid Hungry. He also revealed ...
David Lee Roth believes that his Van Halen bandmate Eddie Van Halen is likely done touring, doubting that the guitarist will be willing to endure “rigors of the road again.” Van Halen, the band, have not toured since 2015, and reports surfaced last October that Eddie Van Halen was battling throat cancer for the past five years. A month later, the guitarist was reportedly hospitalized for complications from drugs he was taking to combat the disease. Eddie had previously battled tongue cancer in the early 2000s. Just prior to the reports on Eddie’s health, Roth told radio station WRIF, “I think Van Halen is finished” and that “Eddie’s got his own story to tell.” Now, in an interview with the New York Times, Roth expressed doubt that Eddie would ever return to the road, in any capacity. “I do...
Last year, singer David Lee Roth declared, “I think Van Halen is finished,” when discussing the status of the legendary rock act. However, in a new interview, the band’s former singer Sammy Hagar insists, “Van Halen will never be finished,” while also adding that he’s heard guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s health has improved. While Van Halen have been inactive for the past few years, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band has made a number of headlines. First it was reported and later confirmed that Van Halen had reached out to former bassist Michael Anthony about bringing him back to the band for a new tour. Then, in September, Roth made his comment about Van Halen being “finished.” A month later, a report surfaced that Eddie was diagnosed with throat cancer, and had been undergoing treatments...
After revealing that he was “suffering from an incurable lung disease” and that his “days are numbered,” Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson has issued a statement to clarify his comments. The legendary rocker assures fans that he’s still reasonably in good health and that he meant his “days as a singer are numbered.” The initial news of Anderson’s health came out of a preview clip for his appearance on Dan Rather’s AXS TV show The Big Interview, which aired on Wednesday night. In the video, Anderson told Rather, “I’m going to tell you something I’ve never told anybody in public before — I am suffering from an incurable lung disease which I was diagnosed with a couple of years back.” He went on to say specifically that he suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). While the c...
