Greta Van Fleet Postpone Shows as Guitarist Jake Kiszka Is Hospitalized with Pneumonia
Greta Van Fleet have been forced to postpone a few shows on their current North American tour, as guitarist Jake Kiszka has been hospitalized with pneumonia. Jake’s twin brother, Josh (lead vocals), also fell ill, but has mostly recovered. Originally, the band was scheduled to kick off the 2022 outing with five shows in their home state of Michigan. They got through three of the gigs, including the tour opener in Kalamazoo, before illness derailed the itinerary. At first, Greta Van Fleet postponed the Flint and Ypsilanti shows slated for this past Wednesday (March 16th) and Thursday (March 17th), explaining that both Josh and Jake woke up ill on Wednesday morning but that COVID had been ruled out. Gary Rossington, the last surviving original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, recently underwent emergency heart surgery. The legendary Southern rock act announced the news after the guitarist missed the band’s recent concerts. Rossington was with Lynyrd Skynyrd when they resumed their long-running farewell tour in June, following 15 months off the road due to the pandemic. However, he hadn’t been onstage with the band for their latest gigs. Patrick Achi, secretary general to the presidency of the Ivory Coast, was appointed Monday interim prime minister while the country’s premier, Hamed Bakayoko, is in Europe receiving medical treatment, the president’s office said. “State minister Patrick Achi will take over the functions of prime minister and head of government in an interim capacity,” the presidency said in a statement. Tene Birahima Ouattara, presidential affairs minister and the younger brother of President Alassane Ouattara, was appointed interim defence minister, also replacing Bakayoko in that position. A 23-year-old laborer, Benedict Owalun, has been arrested by the police in Ondo State for allegedly killing his colleague simply identified as Ekong inside an Indian hemp farm in Ipele in Owo Local Government Area of the state. Non-academic staff of Ondo State-owned tertiary institutions have declared a 14-day warning strike over six months unpaid salaries. The strike will commence on Monday.
