The new preview finds plenty of friends and villains looking for love, but the big event is clearly a bedroom scene between Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell). Better find your glasses, because HBO Max has unveiled the official trailer for Velma, their new origin story of the spectacled Scooby Doo character. The adult animated series premieres today, January 12th. In Velma, executive producer Mindy Kaling voices a teen version of Velma Dinkley — an outcast at her high school who gets roped into an eerie on-campus tragedy. “This is my story told my way,” she says at the beginning of the trailer. “And it starts with a murder.” The series offers a backstory into how Mystery Inc. came to be, told from Velma’s perspective. Warner Bros. Discovery has been enacting a content Red Wedding over at HBO Max, and it’s now come for the author behind the actual Red Wedding. George R. R. Martin revealed in a new blog post that some Game of Thrones spinoffs have been shelved due to “changes at HBO Max.” Martin didn’t elaborate on which projects have stalled out, though more than half a dozen were known to be in the works, including three series — The Sea Snake (previously Nine Voyages), 10,000 Ships, and a story set in Flea Bottom — as well as Tales of Dunk and Egg and multiple animated projects. “None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon,” Martin wrote on December 28th. “A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. HBO Max to Pull Westworld From Streaming Library

Last month, HBO canceled Westworld after four seasons, and now, WarnerMedia plans to pull the series from its streaming library altogether. According to Variety, HBO Max also plans to remove The Nevers from its catalog. Joss Whedon created the latter show, which premiered in 2021 and was supposed to premiere the second half of Season 1 next year. Sources told the trade those remaining episodes may air on another platform. HBO Max’s Dune prequel series, The Sisterhood, has cast Emily Watson (Chernobyl) and Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter) in leading roles, Variety reports. Set 10,000 years before the events of Dune, the series is based on Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune. Officially titled Dune: The Sisterhood, the show was ordered to series at HBO Max in June 2019. Timothy Olyphant has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh and Ed Solomon’s upcoming HBO Max series Full Circle, Variety reports. Olyphant joins Zazie Beetz and Claire Danes in Full Circle, a six-episode crime drama. The official synopsis of the series explains, “An investigation into a botched kidnapping uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present-day New York City.” Soderberg will direct all six episodes of Full Circle and is executive producing the project alongside Solomon, who is also writing.
