AFI released the new album Bodies in June, but the veteran rock act is already back with new music. Ahead of their 2022 US tour, the band has unveiled the new song “Caught.” The new track was recorded during the same sessions as Bodies but didn’t make the final tracklist. “We were really happy with ‘Caught’ and planned for it to be on the Bodies album,” said singer Davey Havok in a press release. “We ended up cutting it at the last minute to allow for a better album flow, but still really loved the song.” “Caught” is a love song that showcases the softer side of AFI, with Havok delivering heartfelt lines like, “Hold me for a second, without a sound, in the lightest, rare, requited kiss, you a light and I, abyss.” Toward the end of the song, around the 3:40 mark, Havok makes a powerful leap...
It appears that David Lee Roth predicted his recent retirement announcement 30 years ago, almost to the exact day. In the music video for his 1991 solo single “A Lil Ain’t Enough,” the longtime Van Halen frontman looks into a crystal ball and gazes into his future. At first, he sees a billboard that reads: “Diamond Dave And THE ABSOLUTE FINAL TOUR.” Then, a Delorean-esque vehicle pulls up, and out from the suicide doors steps an overweight, aged Roth. The date “October 10th, 2021” flashes across the screen while spacesuit-wearing paparazzi bombard the singer. Last week, Diamond Dave announced that his upcoming five-date Las Vegas residency would be his final shows ever. He implied that h...
Introducing the Fart Pedal, the guitar pedal that makes fart noises. Yes, a pedal that sounds like farts is now a thing, thanks to Chicago-based creator Steve Gadlin. He crushed his $30,000 Kickstarter goal to fund the first 250 units. If you’ve ever wanted to loosen up the bottom end of your guitar tone, or make music that sounds like literal ass, look no further. Gadlin even shared convincing sample playthroughs of iconic songs by AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and Gun N’ Roses. Imagine, perfectly controlling your flatulence to the tune of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” There’s even a knob control to adjust the amount of “gas” and a switch for “wet” or “dry” output. Dave Grohl has reacted to the recent lawsuit brought against Nirvana by Spencer Elden, who was photographed as the baby on the cover of the band’s iconic 1991 album, Nevermind. In a new interview, the onetime Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman said he has “many ideas of how we should alter that cover.” Elden is suing multiple defendants — including Grohl, Krist Novoselic, the estate of Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, Universal Music Group, and more — alleging 30 years later that the naked underwater image of him as a 4-month-old baby was child pornography and that using it as the album cover was child sexual exploitation. In addition to seeking monetary compensation, Elden is requesting that the cover artwork be changed for all future releases of Nevermind, including the recentl...
Guns N’ Roses welcomed their support act, Wolfgang Van Halen, to the stage for a performance of “Paradise City” at the Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida, on Saturday night (October 2nd). Wolfgang’s solo band Mammoth WVH has been opening up for GN’R since their US tour launched in late July. Last night, he was brought onto the stage at the end of Guns N’ Roses’ set by Axl Rose, who exclaimed, “Wolfgang Van Halen. You know how cool that is to say that? That’s f**kin’ cool. You don’t understand — we’re talking legacy!” With guitar in hand, Wolfgang joined Axl, Slash, Duff, and the rest of GN’R for their Appetite for Destruction hit, singing backup on the song, as well. David Lee Roth has released the new solo song “Low-Rez Sunset,” accompanied by a music video featuring original artwork by the Van Halen frontman. On the new song, Roth takes up an acoustic pop sound, applying his iconic voice to a laid back groove. It sounds like those classic Roth cuts on the early Van Halen albums, with a show-tunesy vibe and humorous lyrics. The fact that Diamond Dave also illustrated the video’s Flash-style animation makes the new song even more special. The track originally appeared as part of last fall’s “The Roth Project,” an online comic narrated by Roth featuring five solo songs. David Lee Roth has revealed that his recently announced Las Vegas residency will be his “last five shows” ever. In a new interview, the Van Halen singer says is retiring from performing, implying that health issues are forcing him to hang up his microphone. While speaking with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, DLR stated, “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement. … You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.” As opposed to a standard interview, DLR spoke for several minutes straight, telling a story about Van Halen’s origins, and letting the reporter know that he has been speaking with Alex Van Halen several times day. “Al and I have been talking, and I can’t speak for him just yet, but he knows what I am about to say … We speak to each ot...
AC/DC have unveiled the music video for “Through the Mists of Time,” the latest single from their 2020 album, Power Up. The band has showcased some impressive videos to promote the Power Up singles, and the Najeeb Tarazi-directed clip for “Through the Mists of Time” is another visual feast. For this one, Tarazi and creative director Josh Cheuse used footage shot by Clemens Habicht of each of the five band members in five separate shoots around the world. It’s almost been one year since the band released Power Up. As they have done...
