Kaskade Teams Up With Justus for Herculean Hard Dance Tune, “Dance With Me”

Kaskade is swinging to the dark side, and 22-year-old Justus is pushing the pendulum. They’ve joined forces for a new song called “Dance With Me,” which finds Kaskade entering uncharted waters. Tracks like “I Remember” and “Eyes” will stand the test of time, but this time around, he’s endeavoring into the world of hard dance. “Dance With Me” strays from the melodic and oftentimes ambient approach to his music and instead opts for a more heavy-hitting sound. The track kicks off with thumping, techno-inspired kick drums as reverberating stabs swell and slice through the arrangement. Eventually Kaskade and Justus unleash an ominous drop. At the break, a melancholic pad bleeds into spacey synths, carrying a gritty ...

Lil Texas On Performing Nude at EDC Las Vegas: “A State of Pure, Unadulterated Hardcore Energy”

In a scene as unpredictable as electronic dance music, fortune favors the bold. Just ask Lil Texas, who has made a name for himself as EDM’s most magnetic black sheep. Operating in a community that often feeds off of schadenfreude, the DJ and Lady Gaga collaborator stiff-arms critics into the dirt with his unapologetic bravado. Riding the hardcore cadence of his ferocious “Texcore” sound, few artists can match his no-holds-barred, bucking bronco-style performances. But out of all his antics, this may be his most brazen. Lil Texas, a queer music producer and trailblazer whose bio calls him “the Western kink daddy,” performed live at EDC Las Vegas over the weekend wearing nothing but two cowboy hats: one on his head and one covering his disco stick. The act...

Delerium and Sarah McLachlan’s Trance Classic “Silence” Receives Massive Hardstyle Remixes

Delerium and Sarah McLachlan‘s 1999 trance classic “Silence” has received the remix treatment from Brennan Heart and Dailucia.  The remixes were released on the I AM HARDSTYLE label, an imprint of Nettwerk Music Group. Heart begins the slow transcendence into the abyss with deep pads underneath McLachlan’s timeless vocals. As the energy picks up and the silence dissipates, he quickly flings into a ferocious sound with pitched kicks and a heavily sidechained synth.  Heart knows how to break up the continuation, though, as the second build-up and drop are quite a bit different than the first one. The supersaw synth melody he implements for the second drop takes us entirely out of the silence as the melody plays the main vocal line.  The hard mixes ...
