The Pitch: It’s the late hours of Halloween night 2018, and Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) house is still aflame from trapping Michael Myers in a flaming prison she’s spent decades building. But even that’s not enough to kill the soulless demon monster with a penchant for homicide; he escapes with nary a scratch on him, save for some scorch marks on his William Shatner mask. John Carpenter Goes on a “Rampage” in New Song from Halloween Kills: Stream
John Carpenter and his musical collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, have unleashed the new song “Rampage.” It’s the latest preview of the Halloween Kills soundtrack, which arrives October 15th alongside the film. “Rampage” is a sinister slow burn, using skittering synth loops and anxious drums to build tension. If the title is accurate, the actual killing may start around the 1:10 mark, when a very loud and heavy chord falls on the track like an axe blow. The menace intensifies around 2:30, and one can imagine the bodies piling up. But the denouement is a relatively calm affair, perhaps suggesting that someone — good or bad — got away. John Carpenter Announces Halloween Kills Soundtrack, Shares “Unkillable”: Stream
John Carpenter has announced the soundtrack for David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills. It will arrive October 15th via Sacred Bones and accompany the film’s release in theaters. As a first preview, Carpenter has shared “Unkillable.” Spanning 20 tracks, the album is described in a press release as “unmistakably Carpenter.” It contains “sinister vintage synth tones,” but also features the Master of Horror drawing from a “broader sonic palette” while taking advantage of digital production tools. The Halloween Kills soundtrack will be available on CD, cassette, and vinyl. The standard LP comes in orange as well as a “charred pumpkin” black. We’ve reached the time of year when Michael Myers’ face always seems to get cold. The beloved villain puts on his trademark mask in the new teaser trailer for David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills. This is the 12th installment of the Halloween franchise, and serves as a direct sequel to David Gordon Green’s 2018 reboot. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the release date has been kicked around more than a trick-or-treater’s head after it’s separated from their body.
