The packaging is as you would expect—simplistic blue and gold, in the typical Augustinus Bader design, and very chic. The formulas contain the brand’s famous TFC8 complex to deliver hydrating and nourishing nutrients to hair, scalp and follicles for healthier growth and stronger, smoother strands. The products promise to suit every hair type and claim to deliver healthier, stronger and fuller hair from root to tip to help prevent loss and breakage. So with the claims in mind, I overhauled my hair routine to be exclusively blue and gold and dove right in. Before I get into the nitty-gritty of each product, I want to address something very important. As we’ve established, my hair is thin, fine, long and naturally very straight. After using these products for a couple of weeks now, I wan...
A decision on whether or not to get a fringe cut in isn’t something to be taken lightly. Yes fringes can be the perfect way to vamp up a tired style, but it is somewhat of a commitment, especially if you have dedicated time to growing your hair. Being fully on-board with the idea of getting a fringe before you sit down in the salon chair is, if you ask us, absolutely vital if you want to avoid any regret. And this is never truer than it is for those with curly hair. You see, getting a fringe cut into curly strands requires a little more consideration than if hair is straight. Whereas fringes on straight hair are often cut with the hair wet, curly fringes tend to be chopped when the hair is dry in order to take the curl pattern into account, meaning that styling your fringe c...
Along with my stubborn dark circles, having thin hair is my biggest beauty nuisance. While having thin hair certainly has its perks (hello, super-speedy drying time), I personally struggle to get any lift or life into my limp, thin strands—and that makes styling it very difficult. Whereas thicker hair tends to have natural volume, my thin strands require time-consuming styling. Why time-consuming? Well, styling thin hair is no mean feat. Everything from hair spray to supposedly clever creams just seems to add weight, leaving things looking flat and limp in no time at all. As a result, I have spent many years trying to figure out ways to add lightweight volume to my thin hair without excessive use of styling products… or wasting an entire morning, for that matter. Every once in a while, I ask myself, Should I go blonde? I’m a die-hard brunette, so the answer is usually no, but sometimes the blonde hair trends are so good that they force me to reconsider. Right now is one of those times. Blonde hair has never been better, and it’s due to tons of traditional blonde rule-breaking and innovation. This year’s biggest blonde trends are all about dimension. “We have seen a lot of solid and deeper roots to emulate or reflect natural regrowth,” says Richy Kandasamy, colourist and R+Co Collective member. No one wants harsh regrowth lines anymore—everyone is keeping it soft. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. I have spent the past six years growing my hair back to waist length after I had a funny five minutes and decided to chop it all off in 2015. If you’re the sort of person who changes their hair every week, this might not seem like a particularly big deal to you, but having super-long hair is kind of my thing, so cutting it off at my shoulders was a really bold move. And while I liked it at first, my hair is very fine, and I found the need for daily styling a bit of a fuss. Needless to say, the novelty of change soon wore off, and I became wholeheartedly committed to growing it again. Six long years later, I’m now back in my comfort zone with my hair brushing against my lower back. But finally having my strands back to how I like them has left me yearning for chang...
My hair has recently reached that awkward in-between length. It’s no longer the mid-length lob that I visited the hairdressers for last year, but it can’t quite be considered a long hairstyle yet. Instead, it’s sitting rather uninspiringly on my shoulders, causing me to seriously consider going for the chop. I’ve experimented with shorter hairstyles over the years but have never taken the plunge into a full-on bob. However, with my Instagram feed starting to fill up with dramatic, post-lockdown haircuts, I have to admit that I’m seriously tempted to forgo my lengths in favor of something shorter, choppier, and infinitely cooler. And a quick look online confirmed that the bob just might ...

Scrolling through Instagram the other night (as one does for 10 hours when they should really be sleeping), I spotted a scarily relatable beauty meme on Lunya’s Instagram account: “78% of women reading this are wearing their hair in a weird bun right now.” Um, yep! I thought as I immediately commented with a raised-hand emoji. Even though I feel extremely lucky to be able to WFH and carry on my beauty-editor duties from the comfort of my couch or bed (don’t judge me), it’s put an indisputable cramp in my hairstyling routine. When it comes to my strands, I’m pretty low-maintenance to begin with, so you can imagine the effect little to no human contact has had on my day-to-day hair MO. Most days, I want a hairstyle that’s easy and...
While blunt bobs are no doubt chic, making a drastic hair change can require a big change in your day-to-day styling routine. To help get to grips with the best way to look after and style a blunt bob, we asked International Artistic Director for Trevor Sorbie, Ryan Forsythe, for his top tips. “Blunt bobs are universal and can work on all hair types. It’s a timeless haircut that never goes out of style.” Plus, it’s a super-versatile style. “If you want a bob that is natural and low maintenance, try air-drying using Shu Uemura Art of Hair Shiki Worker to condition and leave hair looking healthy. For a more polished bob, I would avoid too much volume and go for a vertical wave with a mid to large curling iron for an undone finish. Use a paddle brush to smooth dow...
I’m not sure that there could actually be a style more classic than a bob. Always elegant and decidedly chic, this simple hairstyle is made famous by A-listers like Anna Wintour and Alexa Chung. Yes, it does require a bit of upkeep, as you’ll need to get your hair trimmed every four to six weeks, but you’ll always look polished and pulled together with this classic hairstyle—whether you wear it tousled, straight or blow-dried for extra volume. A lot of us have our own hair gripes, right? Personally, I like my hair for the most part—it’s stick-straight and easy to manage, which is great because I’m 100% lazy when it comes to styling or using any other products aside from shampoo and conditioner. Most days, I just air-dry it and call it a day. That doesn’t mean I don’t get frustrated with my strands, though. My biggest hair complaint is that because it’s stick-straight, it’s very flat and on the thinner side. It seriously cannot hold a curl at all. I can spend all this time with my curling iron, and then, guaranteed, an hour or two later, it slowly deflates and becomes straight again. The same goes for any type of volume—I’ve tried so many products to get that big, pumped-up...
