Footage From Uvalde Shooting Tragedy Displays Incompetence Of Police On Scene

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Brandon Bell / Getty The Uvalde tragedy is still one of the most shocking school shooting events in recent history, and new details are coming forth from that horrible day. Footage shows local police officers toiling about on their phones instead of doing their jobs and protecting the innocent lives inside. As we understand the sensitive nature of the Uvalde shooting, we won’t show the footage of the police officers casually checking their phones as children were screaming in horror, according to reports saying that the audio of the footage was scrubbed. But what is especially angering is that several accounts from the ground stated that parents practically begged the officers to move into action, with some parents taking on the role of protectors t...

Even Jon Voight Is Calling For Common Sense Gun Control: “This Is Mental”

Jon Voight has released a statement in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas elementary school mass shooting calling for stricter gun laws in the US. “Oh, how my heard bleeds for all those lost,” he began the video posted to his Facebook page in front of an American flag. “My soul cries. We must do something about these horrors that are taken out on innocent beings. Humans who each have lives, and years of life that they’re supposed to live. They’ve been taken down by insanity.” The outspoken Republican and father of Angelina Jolie later went on: “There should be proper qualifications for gun ownership. Proper testing. One should only own a gun if they’re qualified and schooled. It’s not about left, right, guns, no guns. This is about brains that are dysfunctioning. This is mental. This is not abo...

Gov. Greg Abbott Uses Racist Chicago Trope After Uvalde Shooting

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: ALLISON DINNER / Getty The horrific mass shooting that took place in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas has rocked the nation and stirred up more pleas for gun control. But right-wingers – including the governor of Texas – are using a racist trope about the city of Chicago to deflect from the issue. Right-wing politicians and media have begun to use a misleading and racist trope about gun violence in the city of Chicago as a way to deflect from the grisly Tuesday (May 24th) mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. At a press conference held in Uvalde on Wednesday (May 25th), Texas Governor Greg Abbott said: “I know people like to try to oversimplify this…There are ‘real gun laws’ in Chicago. There are ‘real gun laws’ in New York. T...

According to CNN, the families were awarded a $73 million settlement in their wrongful death lawsuit against bankrupt gun manufacturer Remington and four of its insurers. Along with the multi-million dollar payout, the plaintiffs have “obtained and can make public thousands of pages of internal company documents that prove Rem...

System of a Down’s Daron Malakian Supports “Gun” Cover of “B.Y.O.B.” and Guns, In General

System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian had thus far been relatively quiet throughout the recent political headlines surrounding his bandmates — specifically the polar opposite beliefs between left-leaning singer Serj Tankian and right-wing drummer John Dolmayan. However, Malakian recently offered his support for Second Amendment gun rights by reposting a video of a drum cover of SOAD’s “B.Y.O.B.” using firearms as percussion. The video was created by “GunDrummer”, a guy who actually shoots guns to make beats, as he plays along to the song with pistols, rifles, and machine guns. The footage (below) is literally triggering, so watch with discretion. Malakian, who released the 2019 single “Guns Are Loaded” with his band Scars on Broadway, used the occasion to announce his pro-gun stance wi...
