Awards and the entertainment industry go hand in hand, as celebrating the accomplishments of people within the industry and recognizing entertainment legends is now an ingrained part of the culture. While winning multiple awards for one’s achievements is seen as evidence of exemplary talent, winning awards at the four most prominent ceremonies — to EGOT — is an entirely different story. EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winners are seen as the best of the best within their respective crowds. First coined by actor Philip Michael Thomas in 1984, its an accomplishment that many within the entertainment industry strive for. However, as of 2022 only 17 people have ever achieved the status, including John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Robert Lopez, Mel Brooks, Alan Menken, Whoopi Goldberg, and Audrey ...
Midnights has arrived, and thus so has a whole new treasure trove of Taylor Swift-isms to deliberately pick apart. Along with the arrival of her latest studio album today (and a bonus collection of B-sides), the pop star has shared the video for the track “Anti-Hero.” Swift, who wrote and directed the clip, described it on Twitter has a way to “watch my nightmare scenarios and intrusive thoughts play out in real time.” Relatable as ever, huh? But there’s a lot going on here — and we’re here to do our best to break it all down for you. Since the show’s debut, House of the Dragon has brought back that quintessential Game of Thrones experience many had back when the original series ran. While the production value of the show is commendable, any story told in this universe would be nothing without its writing and characters. House of the Dragon has continued to introduce a number of great and thought-provoking figures to fans, but as of Episode 9, “The Green Council,” the White Worm is the most intriguing. Who is she? Let’s explore below. Who Is the White Worm? Before becoming the infamous White Worm, Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) originated as a slave from Essos. Eventually she found her way to Westeros, working her way up from the criminal world of King’s Landing as a prostitute and information broker, to a trusted ally of Prin...
After months of speculation, Netflix will begin offering an ad-supported plan beginning in November. The new ad-supported tier will launch amid a tumultuous year for Netflix, which faced subscriber losses in the first half of 2022. The company’s hope is that this price-conscious plan will boost both subscribers and revenue in the longterm, in a win-win for everyone. While it will now be Netflix’s least expensive plan, the Basic with Ads subscriber option comes with a few strings attached — mainly, that anyone opting in to the tier can expect to see between 4-5 minutes of commercials per each hour of content. On the other hand, it comes at a lower monthly price point. (For those uninterested in ads, Netflix will continue to offer its ad-free plans at higher price points.) Related Video Befo...
Millennials rejoiced when Blink-182 announced that their most iconic lineup — bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker, and guitarist Tom DeLonge — was reuniting for new music and a world tour. Since 2015, Hoppus and Barker had carried on the pop punk band’s tradition with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, but the return of DeLonge signaled a return to their goofball heydey — complete with a ridiculous announcement video that repeated, over and over, that they were “coming.” On October 14th, the classic Blink-182 lineup will officially return with a new song called “Edging,” and next year, they’ll embark on a world tour that includes stops in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand (equally noteworthy is a headlining show at the second addition of the When We Were Youn...
Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out was one of the best films of 2019, making $311.4 million on a $40 million budget and earning a nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Oscars. Unsurprisingly, then, Johnson is poised to follow it up with a sequel. In fact, Netflix shelled out a cool $450 million to ensure he’d make two. Ahead of Knives Out 2‘s release, we’ve rounded up everything we know about the forthcoming sequel. What Is Knives Out, Again? The first Knives Out film starred Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, a detective investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. Christopher Plummer portrayed deceased 85-year-old author Harlan Thrombey, while Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Katherine Lan...

Nearly 40 years after Mr. Miyagi famously taught Daniel LaRusso how to paint a fence and wash a car in the original Karate Kid films, the Miyagi-verse has expanded exponentially, beginning with the release of Cobra Kai, a Netflix original series spin-off of the iconic franchise. The series reunites William Zabka and Ralph Macchio in their breakout roles, while introducing a whole new crew of karate kids. Premiering in 2018, Cobra Kai has answered the question: What happens to Daniel after his time with Mr. Miyagi? Since their days with Mr. Miyagi, Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), and his peer, Johnny Lawerence (Zabka) have started their own dojos, mentoring a new gang of fighters. Since its conception, the show has re-sparked love for the original films and become one of Netflix’s most streamed s...
Last week, on August 5th, eight-member K-pop group Girls’ Generation landed a comeback with their latest album, FOREVER 1. While the term “comeback” has a different meaning within the world of K-pop — it’s typically used to refer to any new music from an artist or group, no matter how long the gap has been between releases — the term really fits here in the more traditional sense. So go ahead — call it a comeback. Girls’ Generation, which consists of members Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun, debuted in 2007, and this new album has arrived to coincide with their fifteenth anniversary. After an extended hiatus that began in 2017 and yielded flourishing solo activities in film, music, and entertainment for many members, the group has reunited for FOREVER 1 ...
The new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder introduced audiences to the latest threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. The pale alien has drawn visual comparison to He Who Shall Not Be Named, but trust us when we say Gorr is even more maddeningly powerful and terrifying. The trailer only teased the depth of Gorr’s motivation and abilities, as the character has a complicated backstory that stabs right into the core of the origins of the Marvel universe. Of course, it’s unclear exactly which elements of the character’s history will be adapted by Taika Waititi (under the guidance of Kevin Feige). While we won’t know for sure what this take on the God Butcher will bring to the table, we thought it prudent ahead of Love and Thunder’s July 8th rel...
Welcome to Harry’s House, the luminous third album from Harry Styles. We get it: it can be a lot to take in — it’s a thirteen track collection from the beloved Brit, spanning genre and era, but also finds Styles at his most confident musically. The album arrived today (May 20th), and we’ll be spinning it all weekend — and all summer — long. To help make sense of all the things in this beautiful home Styles constructed for us like Ryan Gosling in The Notebook, we’ve broken down some of the most essential, can’t-miss details in alphabetical order. A – “As It Was” Harry describes “As It Was” as a metamorphoses of finding and losing yourself. His lead single sets the dreamy ’80s dance pop tone for a new Harry era. He’s long been fixated on the passage of time, and this track appropriately keep...
