The first When We Were Young festival takes place in Las Vegas in less than two weeks. The demand for the event, which features headliners Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Jimmy Eat World and more, was so high that the promoters had to add a second weekend. Based on that success alone, next year’s lineup has been revealed, and if you’re a Blink-182 fan, that’s good news. The newly-reunited Blink and Green Day will headline the 2023 edition of When We Were Young on Oct. 21. Other artists confirmed on the lineup are 30 Seconds to Mars, the Offspring, Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds of Summer and All Time Low. Pierce the Veil, Gym Class Heroes, Michelle Branch, Thrice, Rise Against and a reunited Something Corporate will also feature. Just like this year’s event, When We Were Young wil...

Moving away from their Halloween weekend dates of 2021, organizers have shifted the 2022 iteration of the California music and arts festival to August 5-7. Now, they’ve announced who will be taking the stage this year at Golden Gate Park. This year’s fest will bring out a wild mix of talent spanning hip-hop, bass music, pop, punk roc, and more. Headliners Green Day, Post Malone and SZA will lead the charge, followed by ILLENIUM, Disclosure, Jack Harlow, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo & Pan, Phoebe Bridgers and Weezer, among others. Those who just want to enjoy some electronic music will find solace in the Soma Tent, which is dedicated to all things dance. This stage will feature performances from...
Stevie Nicks and Green Day will headline the 2022 edition of the Sea.Hear.Now festival Sept. 17-18 on the beach in Asbury Park, New Jersey, which was created by rock photographer Danny Clinch, Tim Donnelly and HM Wollman in partnership with promoter C3 Presents. In addition to surf competitions in the Atlantic Ocean just adjacent to the performance stages, the event will feature sets by My Morning Jacket, Cage The Elephant, IDLES, Courtney Barnett, Gary Clark Jr., Aly & AJ, The Head and the Heart, Billy Strings, the Backseat Lovers and Michael Frantz and Spearhead. This year’s edition follows a landmark 2021 event that boasted Pearl Jam’s first live appearance in more than three years. Clinch, who grew up in nearby Toms River, guested on harmonica with the band during a performance of ...
The Shaky Knees Festival just unveiled its lineup and schedule, set for April 29 to May 1 at Atlanta’s Central Park next year. The annual fest is bringing in an eclectic string of performing artists, garnering the likes of Billy Idol, Chvrches, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Death Cab For Cutie, Spoon and many more. A few Fridays ago, Green Day released a version of “Basket Case” that was taken from a 1994 BBC Session. Today, Green Day unveiled a new song titled “Holy Toledo!” that was produced by the band and Butch Walker. “Holy Toledo!” is part of the upcoming movie soundtrack for Mark, Mary & Some Other People, a new indie romantic comedy. The movie is in theaters and available on streaming as of today. [embedded content][embedded content] Bringing in their own self-proclamations into the track, “We’re hell raisers / Death wish cravers / We’re running with razor blades / Party favors / Sex with strangers / We don’t care what the neighbors say,” it is carried on in full-Green Day fashion. In addition to the aforementioned releases, Green Day, also unveiled a cover of KISS’ “Rock and Ro...
Green Day just dropped the “Basket Case” recording from their classic 1994 BBC Session. [embedded content][embedded content] “Basket Case” is off the band’s third studio album, their 1994 breakthrough Dookie. They are set to release their own The BBC Sessions album of rare live covers that is available for pre-order, digitally and on physical formats, out December 10. It includes rare recordings of their Maida Vale sessions from 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2001. “Basket Case” is the second drop from the band’s BBC recordings, having released “2000 Light Years Away (BBC Live Session)” last week, originally off their second studio record Kerplunk! from 1992. Green Day released a banging compilation video of them performing “Rock and Roll All Nite” night after night during the U.S. leg of their Hella Mega Tour. The KISS cover became a live staple for the punk trio, who will resume the tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy, in Europe and the U.K. [embedded content] The video shows head-boppin’ fans and funny backstage shenanigans as everyone rocks out to the iconic rock anthem. Old people crowd surf, Billie Joe Armstrong looks like a bug on his back on top of a piano, and the huge mob of heads in the stadium makes for a light-hearted, forgetful-of-the-pandemic time. The alt-rock giants finished off the U.S. portion of the tour in Seattle on September 6. Hella Mega will take over Europe beginning in June 2022 with its first show in Vienna. Fans can p...
Nearly two years after its initial announcement, the Hella Mega Tour finally kicked off last night in Dallas, TX. Green Day played a career-spanning set that appropriately included a cover (something Billie Joe Armstrong became well-accustomed to during the pandemic); however, it wasn’t a song that was featured on his No Fun Mondays album. It was Kiss’s “Rock and Roll All Nite.” And the band’s Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley both voiced their approval on social media. “‘Tonight In DALLAS!’ Another reason to love @GreenDay!” Stanley tweeted alongside footage from the performance. “@GreenDay. In [Dallas] yesterday! Thank you, Gentlemen,” wrote Simmons, who also shared video. Green Day, along with Fall Out Boy and Weezer, will continue traversing the country throughout the summe...
After multiple setbacks and schedule changes, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer’s ballyhooed Hella Mega Tour is finally happening. On Monday morning (May 17), the trio announced the rescheduled dates for the stadium tour, which kicks off July 24 in Dallas and now includes new stops in Columbus, Ohio at Crew Stadium and at Milwaukee’s Summerfest. The run of dates ends Sept. 6 in Seattle. If that’s not enough action for one day, Green Day also shared a new song titled “Pollyanna,” which you can hear below. [embedded content] The tour was originally announced in 2019 (which may as well be 2009 at this point) and due to COVID, the tour was pushed several times. Check out the rescheduled tour dates below.
