School feeding programme: Nigerian government to enroll 67,307 pupils in Ebonyi – NOA

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says Federal Government will enrol 67,307 primary school pupils into the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme in Ebonyi. The Director of NOA in the state, Dr Desmond Onwo, said this on Wednesday during his visit to the Traditional Rulers Council in Abakaliki. Onwo said the programme would capture 561 public primary schools in the 13 local government areas of the state. Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has urged local government chairmen in the state to upscale intelligence gathering in their respective council areas. Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has said his administration had made steady progress in tackling poverty and unemployment in the last two years. INEC approves creation of 4,861 additional polling units in Lagos

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Lagos State, has concluded plans to create additional 4,861 polling units in the state. The Commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Sam Olumekun, who announced this at the Election Stakeholders’ forum on Monday, held in Ikeja, explained that the move became necessary to tackle the usual voter apathy and boost voter access to polling units in exercising their fundamental rights to vote. Nigerian government establishes 20 new marriage registries

The Federal Government has established 20 new Federal Marriage Registries across the country in a bid to bring Federal Marriage Registry closer to the grassroots. Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola disclosed this Friday in Abuja at a National Stakeholders’ Conference on the Administration and Conduct of Statutory Marriage in Nigeria. According to him, efforts are ongoing to have Federal Marriage Registries in all the State Capitals of the Federation. NGF, FRC to collaborate to promote fiscal responsibility in states

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) on Thursday met to discuss potential opportunities for collaboration towards promoting fiscal responsibility at the sub-national level. Only 18 states so far have been able to dometicate the fiscal responsibility law in their domains. The Chairman of FRC, Victor Muruako, on his remarks stressed that it was imperative to encourage states to adopt fiscal responsibility into law. He expressed believe that the way to start is to is to begin at regional basis before encouraging other states to key in. Muruako said for now, the Commission has been engaging with states by providing technical assistance.
