Late Supremes co-founder Mary Wilson was honored by family members and longtime friends at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Friday (March 4) — and fans will be able to watch the tribute online. The star-studded event, titled A Tribute to Mary Wilson, featured appearances by Stevie Wonder, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, brothers Brian and Eddie Holland, Iris and Karla Gordy, Wilson’s daughter Turkessa Babich, and many others. On Monday (March 1), the museum will have a program in which Leslie Odom Jr. discusses his role as Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami… and another in which Harry Gregson-Williams discusses his original score and original song for Disney’s Mulan. Cooke was Oscar-shortlisted for best original song for “Speak Now” from One Night in Miami… He is also expected to receive a nod for best supporting actor. Grammy Museum Announces First Exhibit for When It Reopens
“While the museum’s doors may still be closed, our curatorial team has been hard at work preparing for our reopening,” said Michael Sticka, president of the Grammy Museum, in a statement. In the meantime, Motown Records will take over this month’s Spotlight Saturdays, the museum’s virtual program series featuring up-and-coming artists in sit-down interviews and performances.
