According to reports, the rapper was en route to perform at the Governors Ball being held at Citifield in Queens, New York on Saturday (June 11th). The 23-year-old was riding in a Cadillac with two other men, Michael Figueroa and Carlos Collins as they reached a checkpoint outside of the venue. NYPD officers responded as Figueroa reportedly replied to a festival security worker asking him to exit the vehicle, “I’m not ready to get out yet.” An on-scene search of the car included the front passenger seat where Figueroa sat was in. Roddy Ricch was arrested on weapons charges Saturday (June 11) prior to his scheduled performance at Governors Ball in Queens, New York. The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rodrick Moore Jr., and members of his crew were stopped at a security checkpoint near Citi Field, when law enforcement found a loaded firearm, additional ammunition and a large capacity magazine, TMZ reports. Ricch has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and unlawful possession of an ammunition feeding device, NYPD tells Billboard. Governors Ball Music Festival Announces Return in September 2021

Slowly but surely, festivals are announcing their (hopeful) returns. Governors Ball is the latest to do so, revealing its plans to come back to New York in September 2021.  Governors Ball was one of the first major festivals to cancel their 2020 iteration due to the impact of COVID-19, pulling the plug in January of last year. As vaccinations continue to be distributed, event producers Founders Entertainment are optimistic that this year’s edition of the fest will go on as scheduled.
