Rivers APC felicitates inaugurated national caretaker committee

The Acting Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Igo Aguma, on behalf of the party in the state has congratulated the National Caretaker and the extraordinary convention planning committee led by Malam Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State. Aguma, who made the disclosure in a statement signed by his media adviser, Livingstone Wedgie, on Thursday, expressed confidence that the new caretaker committee under Buni would work assiduously to bring the much-needed peace and harmony within the party. Senator Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi State and Chairman, Edo governorship Primary Election Committee on Thursday declared in Benin, the Edo state capital that the Peoples Democratic Party has learnt in a hard way from their past mistakes and would not allow history to repeat itself. Speaking at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin while presiding over the party’s governorship primary, Gov. The controversial National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has kicked off at the Council chambers of Aso Rock president villa, Abuja. The NEC meeting which is expected to resolve controversies over the leadership of the party is being attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. It was also gathered that at least, 10 governors are already seated for the meeting as at the time of writing this story. Edo guber: NWC members not tax collectors – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has faulted an allegation by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, that members of the party’s National Working Committee are tax collectors. The PDP reacted to the governor’s claim in a press statement by its National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbodiyan, Wednesday. Newsmen had reported that Wike on Tuesday pulled out of the reconciliation of the Edo State chapter of the PDP. He also accused some members of the National Working Committee of the PDP of “being sycophants and tax collectors who would never tell the truth”. Ex-convict arrested for impersonating late Abba Kyari’s widow

A 58-year old man identified as Mallam Aminu Ado, has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police for impersonating the widow of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, in a bid to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians. Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Frank Mba, who paraded him before newsmen on Monday, June 22, said after the death of the former chief of staff, Ado who is also known as Al Amin Yerima, went on to impersonate the widow and reached out to prominent Nigerians asking for donations to enable him organize special prayers for the soul of the departed. “In the course of doing that some of the prominent Nigerians became suspicious and reached out to us. Ondo guber: Police report armed attack at political meeting

Some hoodlums on Sunday evening reportedly attacked the supporters of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, during a meeting in his hometown, Igboroko, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of the state. The suspected political thugs stormed the venue of the meeting shooting sporadically and also destroyed vehicles branded with the inscription “Akeredolu for second term.” One of Akeredolu’s supporters who witnessed the attack, Ramoni Ayeni, said the meeting was aimed at strengthening support for the governor’s second term bid under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “The thugs were more than 20. Ikhine announced his decision to step down for the governor on Monday at a ceremony in Benin. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday in Benin formally received the Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki into its fold, bringing to an end the widespread speculation of the governor’s defection. Newsmen report that the PDP Chairman in Edo, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, received Obaseki and his supporters into the party. Katsina urges villagers to expose fleeing bandits

Katsina has called on villagers and rural dwellers to expose fleeing bandits and their informants to quickly end the spate of banditry attacks in some parts of the state. The Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Masari on Security Matters, Ahmad Katsina, told newsmen the ongoing bombardment of the forests by the joint security operatives has forced a few of the remnants of the bandits who escaped to seek refuge amongst villagers. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Monday slammed the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for not standing up for embattled Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki. He said the NGF had become a toothless bulldog as it has lost focus on its role in defending the rule of law. Wike said the Forum used to be non-partisan and a powerful voice on national issues. Akwa Ibom community destroyed by heavy floods seeks help

No fewer than 100 houses have been destroyed and 300 persons displaced in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State following a downpour in the area. It was gathered that the rain, which started about 3 am on Sunday and ended around 12pm, destroyed houses and submerged large sections of the metropolis. Meanwhile, residents of the area have lamented the effect of the flooding on their houses. A resident of Eket, who simply identified himself as Umoetuk, said areas mostly affected include Grace Bill, Marina Junction, and Udoh Umoh.
