The Imo state government Thursday said it has identified two persons, one Ohanaeze Collins and M.C Ameche, who are not pensioners but they led the pension protest in the state. A Mobile Court in Uselu, Egor Local Government Area of Edo, on Saturday, sentenced two traders and a driver to community service for displaying wares and parking vehicle in unauthorised places. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mutairu Oare, handed down sentence after they had pleaded guilty. Oare directed the convicts to cut grass at the unused Government House gate on Golf Road, GRA, Benin, for one hour for three days. He, however, gave the traders, Francis Nwatu and Emmanuel Lele, an option of N3,000 fine each and the driver, Monday Imaduvbanyi, an option of N10,000 fine. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Monday slammed the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for not standing up for embattled Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki. The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, says the state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) is resuming its investigation of allegations of fraud against the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, after the court threw out suits challenging the process. The commission is investigating Sanusi over an alleged N2.2 billion land racketeering in Gandun Sarki area of Kano. Other Kano Emirate Council members being investigated over the matter are Sarki Ibrahim, the Makaman of Kano, and Shehu Dankadai, the Sarkin Shanun Kano. File Photo Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has disclosed that the state recorded 30 new positive cases of COVID-19 in one week. Akeredolu made the disclosure on Monday in Akure during a press briefing on the deadly pandemic in the Government House. He said that 11 of the new cases were in Okitipupa Local Government Area, while seven were health workers, who contracted the virus at a private hospital in the area. “This is a frightening and embarrassing situation which tells us that COVID-19 is at our doorstep. “We have a total of 73 confirmed positive cases, 33 treated and discharged, 31 active cases and nine deaths. “Some arrests were made yesterday, while vehicles were also impounded because they were outside after the 7 p.m. curfew,” he said.
