Girls Run the World in First Trailer for Showtime Series The First Lady: Watch

Behind every powerful man is a powerful woman, and The First Lady wants to tell their stories. Ahead of its April 17th premiere, Showtime has shared the first trailer for the anthology series, where Michelle Obama (Viola Davis), Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Eleanor Roosevelt (Gillian Anderson) hold their own behind White House doors. “In four years, I don’t want to look back and think, ‘What did I become living in that house?’” Davis says as Obama early on in the trailer, opening the flood gates for a two-minute compilation of drama. The First Lady peels back the curtain on the personal and political lives of three of America’s most beloved first ladies — all of whom made a point to serve a bigger role while in the White House than to just be the president’s wife. Emmy Awards 2021: Ted Lasso, The Crown & The Queen’s Gambit Among Big Winners

The 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Now in its 73rd year, the annual ceremony honored the best in US primetime television. Cedric the Entertainer, one of the Original Kings of Comedy, served as the evening’s host. Unlike last year’s awkward digital presentation, this year’s Emmy Awards took place live and in person. Among the night’s big winners was Ted Lasso, which claimed the prize for Outstanding Comedy Series. What’s more, Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis, was honored with the trophy for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, while Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingh...

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday night after being delayed for nearly two months due to COVID-19. Now in its 78th year, the Golden Globes honor the best in film and television as determined by the Hollywood Foreign Press. Film was scattered, but as expected. Nomadland and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm predictably ran away with their respective top honors, Minari won the only nomination it (tragically) could, Daniel Kaluuya matched the award seasons buzz with his Best Supporting Actor win for Judas and the Black Messiah, and Soul nabbed both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. Television belonged to Netflix with essential wins for both The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit. The former ruled over Best Drama, Best Actor for Josh O’Connor, Best Actress for Emma Corrin,...

The Crown Season 4 Belongs to Princess Diana: Review

The Pitch: November 15th marks the return of Peter Morgan’s opulent biopic about British royalty and its current sovereign, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman). The new season picks up with the IRA assassination of Lord Mountbatten (Charles Dance) and spans Margaret Thatcher’s (Gillian Anderson) 11-year tenure as Prime Minister. Season 4 also prominently features the long-awaited appearance of Diana, Princess of Wales (Emma Corrin), and explores the majority of her troubled marriage to Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), having finally reached an era that many of us remember from personal experience, rather than history books or documentaries But this season does not rest on its exciting historical events, shaping the narrative to present its most pointed examination of the monarchy as an institut...

The X-Files Animated Comedy Show in the Works at Fox

Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are two of the all-time best detectives in the supernatural TV game, but there’s some cases in The X-Files world too weird for the duo to tackle — or at least that’s what executives have dreamed up. Hence the creation of The X-Files: Albuquerque, a new spin-off series at Fox that will follow a team of agents who handle the projects Mulder and Scully don’t have time for. According to Variety, The X-Files: Albuquerque is an animated comedy show that’s already quietly in development. Creator Chris Carter is onboard as the executive producer of the show, Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko are writing the script and executive producing, and Gabe Rotter — who worked on The X-Files revival — will also executive produce. Bento Box will provide animation. Unfortunately...
