Getter Apologetically Cancels Shows Due to Ear Ailment, Surgery

Getter has cancelled a number of shows on his 2021 North American tour due to a severe ear ailment. Sadly, it seems the superstar electronic music producer and DJ can’t catch a break with his health. In 2019, he took some time off to focus on his mental health. Considering the precarious nature of musicians’ mental and physical wellbeing, such respites are incredibly important for them since they often endure grueling music production and touring schedules.  “we all know i have been having some weird ear problems,” Getter said in a tweeted statement on December 2nd. “i got the surgery for it, i took all the medicines they gave me, i even quit my juul because so many ppl told me it could be making it worse. all these efforts have done nothin...

I Played the Extremely NSFW “Sonny Moore Dating Simulator” Game

This is an opinion column. The thoughts and viewpoints expressed are those of the author, Phil Scilippa. Before I begin, please read the trigger warning below. Although the tweet may seem like a joke, it isn’t. If you’re uncomfortable reading about fictitious scenarios rooted in the situations below, which involve a number of influential electronic producers and DJs, I encourage you to stop right here. Now we can proceed. The unsettling trigger warning above is, of course, in reference to the Twitter account’s name, “Sonny Moore Dating Simulator.” Yes—it’s a real visual novel game—and I played it this week. The Sonny Moore Dating Simulator comes courtesy of indie developer (hobbyist?) Skrillexdere Dev, a tongue-in-cheek combination of the world...

Getter Brings Diverse Sonic Palette Under One Roof With “Some Creatures” EP

Some Creatures, Getter‘s brand new 6-track offering, is finally here. It was immediately evident Getter came to make a statement on this project with the release of “BLOOD HARVEST,” which sees the convergence of his distinct production and vocals from his alter alias, Terror Reid. It’s the first time we’ve seen Getter merge these two creative paths and the crossover goes over with smooth execution.  Getter still leaves plenty of room for wonky synths and bass that will blow the doors off, both on the titular track and its rapid-fire follow up, “With No Eyes.” Things take another turn, however, with “From The Dirt,” a multi-genre track with grungy bass, rock distortion, and rugged hip-hop hi-hats. The cut makes for an inte...

The First Single Off Getter’s Hotly Anticipated EP Has Arrived: Listen to “BLOOD HARVEST”

Following the cryptic morse code announcement of an upcoming EP called SOME CREATURE, Getter has now unveiled his hotly anticipated record’s lead single, “BLOOD HARVEST.”  Kicking off with brass fanfare, “BLOOD HARVEST” is a headbanger’s dream, comprised of heavily resonating bass, meticulously layered vocal samples and angsty energy. Fresh and powerful, its innovative sound design is right in line with the wobbly nature of NAPALM, which—according to an exclusive October 2020 interview with EDM.com—is a direct result of Getter’s commitment to making music purely for himself.  Out May 27th, the track is part of a project that he previously promised would blow NAPALM, its preceding EP, “out of the water.”...

Getter Has Revealed a New 6-Track EP—in Morse Code

The hype surrounding Getter‘s next EP is starting to bubble over.  Yesterday the bass music luminary took to social media to share an esoteric image in Morse code, which fans quickly cracked to reveal a message that reads “six original songs.” Once out, the record will be Getter’s first since NAPALM arrived in October 2020.  Prior to the cryptic post the unnamed EP had already become ingrained in Getter’s fanbase as a highly anticipated project. He has been the teasing the record since as early as November 2020, when he tweeted that it “blows NAPALM out of the water.” He recently dumped gasoline on the excitement in April 2021, promising fans that not one, but multiple EPs were on the way. When EDM.com spoke to Getter about the ...

Getter Teases Multiple New EP Releases

October 2020 saw the return of bass music innovator Getter, who dropped his stunning six-track EP NAPALM. Since then, he has been riding aboard the ever-popular NFT hype train, releasing multiple tokens in collaboration with visual artist Dax Norman. The producer has also been teasing a new EP, but on his birthday, April 14th, he took to Twitter to reveal that there may be more than one record on the way.  Expressing his gratitude for fans’ birthday wishes in the tweet, Getter also promised multiple new EPs on the way soon. He previously already revealed his excitement for the first of the EPs, claiming that it will “blow NAPALM out of the water.” In a later tweet, he built the anticipation even further: It appears that Getter will be continuing t...
