Oh Sees (as OSees) Announce New Album Protean Threat, Share “Dreary Nonsense”: Stream
Every August for the last three years, Oh Sees have released a new album: Orc in 2017, Smote Reverser in 2018, and last year’s Face Stabber. Like everything in 2020, it looks like the John Dwyer-led band’s next effort will be arriving a little later than anticipated this year. Taking on the moniker OSees, the prolific garage rockers have today announced a new album, Protean Threat, set for a September 18th release via Castle Face Records. Described as “the apogee of scuzz,” Protean Threat is a 13-track collection calling to “abate hate” with a “club” of love. Nobunny Admits He Took “Advantage of Young Women,” Retires from Music
Garage rocker Nobunny, a regular staple at Burger Records events, has issued a statement in which he admits to sexual misconduct involving underage women and states he is retiring from music. Justin Champlin, the artist who performs under the moniker Nobunny, released his statement earlier Thursday. In it, he says that he has not been publicly “called out” but wants to take responsibility for his previous actions. However, a post on @lured_by_burger_records — the Instagram account that detailed dozens of allegations against Burger Records’ bands, ultimately resulting in the label shutting down for good — claims that Nobunny engaged in online sexual activity with a 14-year-old despite knowing how old she was. FUZZ Announce New Album III, Share Lead Single “Returning”: Stream
FUZZ are back and they’re ready to blow out your speakers. Ty Segall’s beloved garage rock trio have announced a new album as well as a lengthy tour that extends through next year. They will be touring in support of the new record, III, which is due out October 23rd via In the Red Recordings. This is the first new album FUZZ have released in five years and serves as the follow-up to their 2015 full-length II. As such, this eight-track album sees Segall on drums, Charles Moothart on guitar, and Chad Ubovich on bass performing raw, headbang-worthy songs. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Return with Sweet New Single “Honey”: Stream
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have returned with “Honey”, their first new material since last summer’s Infest the Rats’ Nest. Nearly five minutes in length, the single leans on the more gentle, twangier side of psychedelia, as frontman Stu Mackenzie praises a special someone (“the magic potion”) that’s kept him afloat during these uncertain times. “You taste like honey/ All warm and runny/ Kinder than candy/ Effervescent shandy/ Days are ever sweeter when I wake up near ya,” he sings on the track, which isn’t to be confused with The Jesus and Mary Chain’s similarly titled saccharine alt-rock hit.
