The action gets underway on Friday evening as Newcastle United go head-to-head with Aston Villa at St James’ Park. The early kick-off on Saturday is at Elland Road, with Leeds United facing Chelsea. The Blues will be without Tammy Abraham and Thiago Silva, with manager Thomas Tuchel confirming they are sidelined with injuries. There are three other games later the same day, with the clash between Fulham and Manchester City the pick of the bunch. Fulham have given themselves a great chance of avoiding relegation, but they could have their work cut out against the champions-elect. The Sunday line-up features a quartet of matches, headlined by the north London derby b...
Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, slammed his old team’s performance for defeat to Fulham. The Reds put in another flat performance despite the extensive changes, with a late first-half strike from Mario Lemina giving Scott Parker’s side a huge three points in their quest for survival. “It’s been disappointing,” said Souness. “You’ve got a group of players who will be looking to tell the manager by their performances ‘we should really be in the starting 11.’ That has not happened today from any of them. “They have been a shadow [of their former selves]. There is one word I associate with Liverpool for the last three years:, intensity. They were a team you didn’t want to play against. Now it is a team that are an easy touch, and that is unacceptable. “It is unfathomable. I struggle to say i...

Meanwhile, arch-rivals Manchester United also boast one nominee, as well as West Ham United, Leicester City, Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United. The winner will be announced on Friday, March 12. Joachim Andersen – Fulham Andersen has been a crucial part of Fulham’s survival bid An underdog for the prize, Lyon loanee Joachim Andersen has starred in an impressive Fulham backline throughout February. The Whites kept four cl...
The 2020/21 Premier League season rumbles on this weekend, with some eye-catching EPL fixtures scheduled over the next few days. With Manchester City looking nailed on to win the title, attention has switched onto the battle to qualify for Europe. Arsenal have the opportunity to boost their chances when they visit Burnley in the early game on Saturday. A victory at Turf Moor would move the Gunners just three points behind Liverpool, who are currently in seventh place. There are three further games later the same day, with the Midlands derby between Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers the pick of the bunch. Villa are also in the running to bag a European qualification spot but may find it difficult to break Wolves down. There are four fixtures on Sunday, headlined by the Manchester derb...
Tottenham Hotspur collected an important three points in their bid for European football after grinding out a 1-0 win over relegation strugglers Fulham on Thursday. The Lilywhites dominated large parts of the first-half and should have taken the lead when Heung-min Son’s cross found an unmarked Harry Kane six yards out. However, the forward uncharacteristically nodded straight at Alphonse Areola. Just moments later, Spurs were ahead. Son’s low cross was flicked towards goal by Dele Alli, who found the net via a deflection off Tosin Adarabioyo. Replays showed that Alli’s effort was heading wide, meaning that the goal went down as an own goal. Fulham struggled to create anything of note until first-half injury-time. Josh Maja laid off for Mario Lemina, who blazed over from ten yards out. The...
VAR has once again taken centre stage after a highly controversial round of Premier League fixtures which saw three goals harshly ruled out. The first came at Craven Cottage in the clash between Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur. On loan striker Josh Maja thought he had netted an equaliser for the home side, only for the cameras to spot a handball by Mario Lemina in the build up. The game ended 1-0 to Spurs. Despite the fact that Lemina’s arms were quite clearly by his side, the goal was chalked off. The handball law states that intent doesn’t matter if a handball leads to a goal – which is a frankly ridiculous rule. Lemina has the ball booted at him and his arms are down by his side, I’m genuinely baffled how they’ve disallowed it. Premier League referees really do have a concerning lack of co...
Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the Premier League on Thursday. Spurs returned to winning ways in the league last week after two back-to-back defeats when they won 4-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion. Fulham are in the relegation zone, but the Cottagers have shown recent signs of improvement. They are undefeated in their last five games and have lost just once in their last eight outings. Jose Mourinho is expected to rotate his squad ahead of two other London derbies against Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Gareth Bale was outstanding against Burnley in the last match, hinting at a return to his best. Mourinho claimed in the press conference yesterday that the Welshman will feature against Fulham. Dele Alli has also looked in good shape in recent weeks,...
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will face a big decision this summer as he enters an important phase in his career. The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Fulham but has indicated that he will return to Chelsea this summer to fight for his place. Loftus-Cheek is contracted to the Blues until 2024, and his chances of forcing his way into their starting XI appear remote. The midfielder has performed well for Fulham, and manager Scott Parker has confirmed that we would love to make the move permanent. During his press conference for Fulham’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, Parker praised the impact Loftus-Cheek has made. “Ruben has been a fantastic addition,” he said. “I’ve seen someone grow immensely from the start of the season to a person and player now who has transformed. ...
Popular football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted a win for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday. Spurs will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the Premier League, and Lawrenson has backed a 2-0 win for Jose Mourinho’s side. The north Londoners returned to winning ways last weekend after thrashing Burnley 4-0, with Gareth Bale netting a brace. It was arguably Bale’s best performance since rejoining Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in the summer as Spurs picked up all three points. It was also the first time Mourinho unleashed the front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Bale, and it paid off. Spurs are six points off fourth-placed West Ham United with a game in hand, and they will be looking to close the gap on other rivals. Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Tottenham were very impressive a...
Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the Premier League on Thursday night. Ahead of the match, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso won’t play in the London derby. Mourinho has confirmed that he has just returned from a ‘big injury’, and Spurs will not take any risks with him. The Argentine is training with the squad at the moment, but Spurs will include him when he is ready. Mourinho on Lo Celso: “Training with the team but a big injury. We’re not going to risk yet. In fact we don’t want to risk, we’ll bring him to the team when he is ok. Maybe one or two more weeks. Everybody else ok.” https://t.co/zuHFY5uF6l — Alasdair Gold (@AlasdairGold) March 3, 2021 However, the Portuguese boss has revealed that Garet...
