It’s 2012. “Levels” is blasting through every house party. Big room house music is dominating the club circuit. Avicii, Skrillex and Pretty Lights are headlining Ultra Music Festival. Life is good. That year, the EDM bubble looked more like a 5 Gum commercial, a mind-bending maelstrom of fantastical electronic music festivals and totemic tracks. Rave culture bubbled up from the underground and exploded through the mainstream, leading to a collective serotonin rush that still remains. And while the EDM ecosystem is still thriving, it’s markedly different from those days, when DJs and producers pumped out hits like a broken printer. 2012 gave rise to a slew of generational dance anthems, which are now relics of a bygone era. Adventure Club are enticing fans with a new version of an old adventure. The duo, whose timeless dubstep remixes helped catapult them to the upper echelon of EDM in the early 2010s, recently took to Twitter to tease an “old school” remix in the works. “what would you do if we told you that we’ve got an old school AC remix brewing?” Adventure Club wrote. Adventure Club did not share which track they’ve remixed or when fans can expect a release. But after a fan asked for more information, they responded and said the upcoming song harkens back to their fan-favorite remixes of Metric’s “Collect Call” and Foxes’ “Youth,” which released in 2011 and 2012, respectively. For a budding musician, what could be more serendipitous than a Grammy Award right at the start of their career? That is the position singer-songwriter Foxes found herself in back in 2014, when her work on Zedd‘s “Clarity” nabbed the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. Nearly 10 years after its 2012 release, the generational anthem still manages to make crowds go gaga. “I was like, ‘Oh, wait a minute. I’ve just been writing in a bedroom, and I’m suddenly in LA holding a Grammy! I don’t really know how to deal with this!’” reflected the Brit in a recent interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “I don’t really think I was a pop act,” she remembered. “The major label I was with put me in a box…I was trying to ...
Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has credited former Genk manager Peter Maes for switching his playing position from centre-back to midfield. Last season, the Nigeria international was drafted into the heart of the Foxes’ defence on several occasions and he delivered some impressive performances. His initial knowledge as a centre-back has also helped him shine in the Premier League as one of the best defensive midfielders in the division. The 24-year-old, who moved to King Power Stadium in January 2017, disclosed that his role was changed at Genk after he played for Nigeria’s youth teams and his former side Nath Boys as a defender. “I started my career as a central defender during my days in Nath Boys. Chelsea suffered late VAR heartache as they slipped to back-to-back FA Cup final defeats after a 1-0 loss to Leicester City, Youri Tielemans’ second-half strike proving decisive. In front of a reduced, yet undoubtedly noisy, Wembley crowd, it was Chelsea who made the brighter start, Timo Werner showcasing his electric speed to test the Foxes backline early on. Despite controlling the opening exchanges, the first real chance of the match fell to their opponents, Timothy Castagne getting in down the right and teeing up Jamie Vardy inside the area, the veteran striker’s effort well blocked by Reece James. At the other end of the pitch, Thomas Tuchel’s men almost fashioned a chance of their own, Thiago Silva’s dinked cross agonisingly evading the head of Cesar Azpilicueta at the back post, aft...
