The Knocks Announce Collaborators and Release Date of New Album, “HISTORY”

It looks like The Knocks are on the precipice of their biggest and most impactful project yet. The veteran duo have long flexed an inimitable ability to produce blockbusting music at the intersection of disco and house, but they’re yet to release a genuine tour de force. However, that may change on April 29th, when they release HISTORY. It’s early, but it’s not a stretch to call the record a darkhorse for the year’s best dance album. The Knocks are teaming up with a formidable group of collaborators for HISTORY, such as MUNA, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Cold War Kids, Parson James and Yoke Lore, among others. If that list is any indication, longtime fans are safe to expect the bubbly indietronica sound they’ve come to know and love. The tandem are also...

deadmau5 Taps Foster the People for Dreamy Indietronica Jam, “hyperlandia”: Listen

In a collab no one saw coming, deadmau5 and Foster the People have joined forces for a dreamy track called “hyperlandia.” Arriving by way of deadmau5’s mau5trap imprint, the song finds Foster the People frontman Mark Foster crooning over a glacial beat, a downtempo masterstroke with all the bells and whistles of a classic deadmau5 composition. While devoid of the hyperactive electro elements largely associated with his discography, “hyperlandia” is nevertheless signature deadmau5 with its fluttery arpeggios and punchy drum programming. Foster’s airy vocals float beautifully atop deadmau5’s production, which fuses elements of vaporwave and indietronica for a song that could soundtrack a psychedelic drive from Fear and Loathing in Las ...

The Knocks and Foster The People Release 90s Covers EP With Remix of “Bittersweet Symphony”

Foster The People and The Knocks have revisited three 90’s classics, delivering new spins on timeless originals from The Verve, Beck, and Moby on their collaborative Melody & Silence EP. In their rendition of The Verve’s now two-decade old hit “Bittersweet Symphony,” Mark Foster‘s delivery and tone bears an uncanny likeness to the original. While his performance impressively preserves the toiling and nihilistic spirit of The Verve’s 1997 work, the production side embraces brighter sonic elements, like clean-cut electronic drum programming and floating piano chords. Next up, the artists took to the grungier side of 90s rock with their remix of “Devil’s Haircut.” With their new spin, the artists lean into the distorted elements of the...

Watch The Knocks and Foster The People’s Official Music Video for “All About You”

The Knocks and Foster The People reunited last year after the success of their first collaboration, “Ride Or Die,” which dropped back in 2018. After their follow-up track “All About You” was released in October, they’ve now released its visual accompaniment.  The tune itself is a flip of Pastor T.L. Barret‘s “Like a Ship” from 1972, featuring a youth choir. These smooth and soulful samples made for an excellent foundation for the track, layered with an acidic synth line, and finally paired with Mark Foster‘s unique voice. Additions from both acts highlight one another organically, while showcasing the qualities that have led each of them to become the renowned artists they are today. Directed by Nathan R. Smith, the ...
