When Foo Fighters announced their 26th anniversary tour earlier this month, we knew it was only a matter of time before they revealed a date in their hometown of Los Angeles. Well, that day has come — and the show is going to be one to remember (if you’re lucky enough to snag a ticket). The Foos are playing at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California on June 15. For anyone who hasn’t seen a show at the venue, it holds 610 people (!!!). Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am and will only be available in-person at the club. They’ll only cost you $26, but there’s a catch: you must show proof of vaccination (meaning at least 14 days after second dose of Pfizer or Moderna or single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine) at time of purchase. Check out the announcement below and get m...
While Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl and Rush bassist/singer Geddy Lee would make a great super-group rhythm section, so far they’re only sharing an on-screen conversation with their moms. The chat was part of Grohl’s unscripted reality show From Cradle to Stage with his mom Virginia Hanlon Grohl. The Lee episode is the final show in the six-part series, and it airs on Thursday, June 10 on Paramount+. In it, Geddy Lee — born Gary Lee Weinrib — and his mom, Mary Weinrib, speak about their Jewish family history. “From a very early age, I knew my parents were holocaust survivors,” Lee says in the clip. On a lighter note, Lee’s mother, a petite woman with a blonde bob haircut, talks about seeing her son perform in the early days. When Hanlon Grohl asks Weinrib if she thought her son wo...
Well, that escalated quickly. A few weeks ago, we were wondering if Foo Fighters (and most any tour, really) would be taking place at all, nevertheless at a full capacity indoors. Today, we have that answer. Dave Grohl and company will be the first band to rock New York City’s Madison Square Garden –and it’s happening in just 12 days. The group’s headlining show at MSG will also be the first 100% capacity show in New York City since the COVID shut down last year. Tickets go on sale to the general public on June 11 at 10 a.,m. local time. As usual, Grohl didn’t mince words. “We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year,” Grohl said in a statement. “And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26...
After having their grand plans to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band shelved due to COVID, Foo Fighters are finally ready to hit the road. The group had been teasing activity throughout the holiday weekend, and now we know why. In honor of what’s now their 26th anniversary, the Foos announced a handful of tour dates that begin in July and will span a few weeks in the middle of the country. “Having confirmed their appearances atop the 2021 lineups of Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Bottlerock, Foo Fighters are answering the burning question of “Are they doing any of their own shows?” with a resounding FUCK YES,” a statement says a bit more succinctly. Radkey will support the band on this run, with more dates promised to be announced in the near future. If you’re a Citi cardholder, you ca...
The multi-talented and always busy Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl added “co-host” to his resume when he co-hosted The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday. In front of a live studio audience, Grohl helped with all the customary hosting duties, including the opening monologue, the interviews, the sketches and even performed a couple of musical numbers. Fallon and Grohl went head to head on the “Off Songs Song Off” challenge — where it took Grohl an uncomfortably long time to recognize the Nirvana song “Lithium.” The pair also recreated the Rick Astley “Rick Roll” meme as the Grohl Roll during a live performance of “The Best of You,” where he was joined by Fallon and the two traded screamed “the best!’ at each other. Watch the pair play below. [embedded conte...

And they’re in. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their inductees for 2021, and it’s a doozy. Foo Fighters, Jay Z, The Go-Go’s, Carole King, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner will round out the performer category. Additionally, in the Musical Excellence category, LL Cool J, Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads get the call to the hall while Kraftwerk, Gil Scott Heron and Charley Patton were tapped in the Early Influences category. Clarence Avant will be inducted as the recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award which honors non-performing individuals. The Foos, Jay Z and The Go-Go’s were first-time nominees. Late last year, we wrote about why the Go-Go’s should be inducted into the Rock Hall and spoke with the band’s Jane Wiedlin earlier this year about their new documentary and her thoughts o...
On Saturday night, Global Citizen aired VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World — a virtual event aimed “to help end COVID-19 for all, end the hunger crisis, resume learning everywhere, protect the planet, and advance equity for all.” The hourlong show, hosted by Selena Gomez, kicked off with Eddie Vedder playing two songs with a backing band that featured former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and the rhythm section of White Reaper. Together, they thrashed through a punky version of Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy track “Corduroy” and a cover of Little Steven Van Zandt’s 1984 anthem “I Am a Patriot.” “We need governments to stop stockpiling vaccines — and to share their excess doses. Now. We need pharmaceutical companies to provid...
It was a two-Grohl show when dad and daughter — Dave and 15-year-old Violet — were joined by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and keyboard player Greg Kurstin for a cover of the song “Nausea” by L.A. punk band X. The song is from the elder Grohl’s upcoming documentary What Drives Us. The remote performance saw Violet sing the part originally performed by X’s Exene Cervenka, while Dave took X singer/bassist John Doe’s parts on the faithful version of the 1980 song. The song’s artwork, a letter G “on fire,” also mimics the original X album, which featured that letter in flames. As Grohl said last week in a lengthy Instagram post, his long-lost cousin, DJ Bonebrake, is X’s drummer. Grohl also spoke at length to Kimmel about his myriad projects. Some peop...
For the stoner’s holiday that is April 20, the Foo Fighters shared a trippy animated video for their tune “Chasing Birds.” The clip sees Dave Grohl and company performing, while the singer/guitarist sees “trails” and meets a talking cactus in the clip’s desert landscape. While the lyrics for “Chasing Birds” include “Chasing birds / To get high / I’m never coming down,” it’s not an overt drug song, but the visuals are perfect for those who do enjoy some green, which is legal in Grohl’s adopted home state of California. His bandmates also find themselves melting, falling into a chasm, seeing colorful monsters and having assorted trippy experiences. “Chasing Birds” is off the band’s latest LP, Medicine at Midnight.
