Flume Sets Stage for Massive Year With Psychedelic “2022” Teaser Featuring Damon Albarn of Gorillaz

January has only just begun and Flume has already made the shortlist of most hotly anticipated collabs for 2022. In a short clip simply titled “Flume – 2022,” the famed Australian electronic music producer showcases a dreamy ambient track featuring an unmistakable voice: Damon Albarn of Gorillaz. The visually pleasing graphic opens in a serene tropical landscape. As the camera zooms deeper, the rainforest seemingly sways aside to reveal a color-splashed cockatoo as lush synths and distorted hums resonate throughout. As the camera zooms into the lens of the bird, a psychedelic landscape of geometric shapes fills the scene to the sound of Albarn, who croons, “I thought beyond the exit, there would be palaces,” before the clip fades to darkness. Fans of Flume can finally exhale. After a yearlong drought of new music, the electronic music virtuoso has arrived with a huge remix of Danny L Harle’s “On A Mountain,” which appeared on the renowned producer’s debut full-length album Harlecore. The original track, which blends elements of breakbeat and màkina music, has been mutated into a glitched-out rush of phantasmagoric future bass. Flume’s Next NFT Drop Will Feature Exclusive Visuals from New Album

Flume’s latest foray into the NFT world may be his biggest yet. The fabled future bass producer has announced that his new non-fungible token drop, which he said will be his last for a while, will feature visuals from his upcoming album. Flume announced his foray into the NFT space in March, dropping a trippy audiovisual piece called “Saccade” that eventually sold for a whopping 28.2828 ETH, equivalent to $58,618.08. Back in April 2020, Flume confirmed that the album was in the works during a radio interview and said at the time that he hoped to finish it by the end of the year. Pokémon cards aren’t quite the generational phenomenon they once were, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Now, each one is a tiny nostalgia machine. After finding himself in need of a new project while under lockdown due to COVID-19, an ingenious Etsy seller decided to tap into the ethos of the 90s and glue it to EDM by producing a series of custom Pokémon cards. Created using holographic foil and recycled cardboard, the cards feature albums from a number of electronic music icons, along with cleverly crafted attack names and descriptions. Kaytranada Dominates 2021 Dance/Electronic Grammy Awards: See the Full List of Winners

Kaytranada has won his first Grammy Awards, sweeping the 63rd annual ceremony’s Dance/Electronic categories. The renowned Haitian-born beatsmith nabbed wins in the Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album categories, taking home the hardware for “10%” with  Kali Uchis and Bubba, respectively. Flume Enters the NFT Space With Trippy “Saccade” Digital Artwork

Flume is the latest major electronic music artist to join the wildly popular NFT space.  Flume’s foray into the NFT space, which could be one of its most lucrative, is a stunning collaboration with visual artist Jonathan Zawada. Titled “Saccade,” the trippy artwork depicts a polychromatic eye and pupil, which mutates and dilates in awe-inspiring fashion. It’s one of the most intricate NFT drops to emerge during the non-fungible token craze, which has exploded in the EDM landscape.
