Post Malone Debuts New Song With Fleet Foxes on SNL

A dress-wearing Post Malone played the Saturday Night Live stage for the first time last night, where he treated fans to songs off his upcoming album Twelve Carat Toothache, including the debut of “A Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol,” which features vocals from Fleet Foxes‘ Robin Pecknold. He told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show that he was planning on bringing Pecknold up for the song. Malone also performed “Cooped Out,” his newly released song with Roddy Ricch. Twelve Carat Toothache is slated for a June 3 release. Watch Post Malone and Fleet Foxes perform “A Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol,” and “Cooped Up,” below. Fleet Foxes Detail A Very Lonely Solstice Collection

Fleet Foxes just announced the forthcoming A Very Lonely Solstice, a 13-track collection recorded in December 2020, that will be out digitally on December 10. Frontman Robin Pecknold will host a Q&A following the filmed recording premiere event on YouTube at 12 pm ET also on December 10, hosted by Elia Einhorn for YouTube Premium subscribers. A Very Lonely Solstice is available for preorder on limited edition colored vinyl and CD. It was recorded at Brooklyn’s St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, just days after New York declared a state of emergency tightening COVID restrictions. Pecknold said of the set: “me by myself on the longest night of the year… honoring the loneliness of 2020 with a nylon string and some songs new and old.” The collection showcases a solo focu...

The 30 Best Albums of 2020

After a deluge of canceled or delayed tours, drive-in experiments, Bandcamp Fridays and bedroom livestreams, we’re finally here. Yay? It’s hard to celebrate much of anything in 2020. But one encouraging sign from the music industry has been the number of artists innovating on the fly — figuring out ways to sustain their careers through the madness. And as fans, at least we’ve had new albums to help us process our continuing semi-apocalypse. Having (mercifully) reached the end of this awful year, we have even more perspective on the functionality of a great record. The 30 we’ve assembled here have prompted us to dance, helped us grieve, made us laugh, or even just allowed us to escape into a transportive riff or soundscape. We assume they did the same for the artists themselves. Let us reme...

Fleet Foxes Almost Collaborated With Post Malone on a Song for Their New Album

If there’s one thing Post Malone enjoys as much as being the human embodiment of Bud Light, it’s Fleet Foxes (or Nirvana). His fandom is pretty clearly documented in his social media over the years, and he even had J. Tillman (who played drums for the band before transforming into Father John Misty) write “Myself” from last year’s Hollywood’s Bleeding. But while the “White Iverson” singer remains one of the easiest targets in entertainment, it sounds like he almost got to live his dream of being featured on a Fleet Foxes song. “He came by the studio for one day while we were working in L.A. and listened to stuff and was super supportive,” Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold said on RADIO.COM’s New Arrivals. “We didn̵...

Listen to Fleet Foxes’ New Album Shore

Yesterday, Fleet Foxes announced they’d be releasing a new album today (Sept. 22) to coincide with the autumnal equinox. True to their word, that album, Shore, is out now. A 55-minute film of the same name, directed by Kersti Jan Werdal, is also out. The album was recorded between September 2018 through this month, but it took until quarantine for singer Robin Pecknold to really get going. The singer released a lengthy statement on the album, part of which you can see below. Since the unexpected success of the first Fleet Foxes album over a decade ago, I have spent more time than I’m happy to admit in a state of constant worry and anxiety. Worried about what I should make, how it will be received, worried about the moves of other artists, my place amongst them, worried about my singin...

Fleet Foxes Announce Shore, First Album in Three Years

Fleet Foxes will release their fourth album, Shore, alongside a 55-minute, Super-16mm companion art film by Los Angeles filmmaker Kersti Jan Werdal, on Tuesday at 6:31 am PST/9:31 am EST. The release will coincide with the autumnal equinox instead of for the standard “new music Friday” when albums traditionally release. The video will be available at fleetfoxes.co. Frontman Robin Pecknold dropped a hint on his Instagram account, via an IG video with footage of flowers backed with acoustic guitar strumming, and the word “Shore.” The post’s caption is “Tuesday.” <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" data-wp-preserve="%3Cscript%20async%20src%3D%22%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fembed.js%22%3E%3C%2Fscript%3E" data-m...
