Donald Trump, professional troll and occasional President of the United States, is running for reelection by comparing himself to fictional mass murderers. A few months ago he shared a video of himself as Thanos, snapping the Democratic half of the country into oblivion. Now, his 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale has begun referring to Trump’s campaign as the Death Star, but Darth Brad has apparently forgotten the part where the Death Star blows up. “For nearly three years we have been building a juggernaut campaign (Death Star)” Parsacle wrote on Twitter. “It is firing on all cylinders. Data, Digital, TV, Political, Surrogates, Coalitions, etc. In a few days we start pressing FIRE for the first time.” He included a GIF of the Death Star then firing, leaving out all the space fascism and...
Kevin James is a man of many faces apparently. He’s been the King of Queens. He’s been a grown up. He’s been cinema’s beloved mall cop. Next, he’s bringing his talents to white supremacy in the star-studded home invasion thriller Becky. To be fair, James is not the only one going against type. Joining him for this wild thrill ride is Community hunk Joel McHale, who’s playing the patriarch of this troubled home. So, what the hell is this whole thing about and who is Becky? Directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion, Becky follows the titular 14-year-old (Lulu Wilson) who’s been whisked away for what should have been a weekend getaway at their father’s lake house cabin. Alas, Nazi Blart… Editors’ Picks All joking aside, this one looks pretty vicious, and we’re all about comics t...
There’s a new Spike Lee joint heading to your home. Today, the legendary filmmaker announced that Da 5 Bloods, his highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s BlacKkKlansman, will premiere on Netflix on Friday, June 12th. Starring Chadwick Boseman, Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Paul Walter, and Jean Reno, the film follows four veterans who return to Vietnam searching for the remains of their fallen squad leader — and some treasure. Lee directed and co-wrote the script with Danny Bilson, Paul DeMeo, Matt Billingsly, and Kevin Willmott, the latter of whom aided Lee and Charlie Wachtel on their Oscar-winning script for BlacKkKlansman. Editors’ Picks Check out Lee’s announcement below, followed by its swanky poster, and revisit our 2018 Filmmaker of the Year interview in which the legend dis...
The first season of The Mandalorian offered a new hope for the Star Wars franchise thanks to a reimagined narrative by Jon Favreau. Regardless of how good the script was, there’s no denying part of the show’s success came from The Child, the infant character otherwise known as Baby Yoda, who became a beloved meme instantly. Now, for May the 4th, Disney has announced a Baby Yoda-shaped vinyl that’s as adorable as The Child himself. The record is aptly titled “The Child Die-Cut Vinyl”. It features Baby Yoda in a pod, as seen in the series, with his hands grabbing on to the edge of the metal, all snug in that tightly wrapped jacket. Both sides of the vinyl contain The Mandalorian theme song as composed and produced by Ludwig Göransson, the musician behind some of the best film score...

It ain’t over ’til it’s over. That’s the motto Sylvester Stallone lives by and why we’ll never count out a sequel to any of his properties. That being said, we’re admittedly a little surprised to hear that there’s a sequel in development to Demolition Man. “I think it is coming,” the veteran actor stated in a recent Q&A on Instagram. “We’re working on it right now with Warner Brothers and it’s looking fantastic, so that should come out. That’s going to happen.” Logically speaking, it makes sense. He’s already put the proverbial final nail in the coffin for his two most beloved franchises, that being Rocky and Rambo, so it’s only logical that he’d attempt to revisit the 1993 sci-fi blockbuster. Directed by Marco Brambilla in his feature-film debut and co-written by Heathers screenwriter...
For the first installment of his “Reunited Apart” video series, Josh Gad brought together all our favorite characters from The Goonies. Now, the Frozen actor is set to reunite the iconic cast of Back to the Future. Gad previewed his exciting plans on social media on Tuesday, posting a Zoom call screenshot featuring Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox, and Doc Brown, aka Christopher Lloyd. Eight other participants are scheduled to appear in the reunion livestream, but Gad made sure to keep their identities a mystery. “Oops. Accidentally marked up this picture featuring all of the surprise guests we’ve assembled for next Monday’s #BackToTheFuture #ReunitedApart reunion,” The Book of Mormon star wrote on Instagram. Could the unknown folks be director Robert Zemeckis? Marty’s mo...
Roger Deakins is taking his talents to audio. With every major Hollywood production shutdown, the Academy Award-winning cinematography (The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, Blade Runner 2049), has launched a podcast with his wife James that they’ve aptly dubbed, Team Deakins. The goal of the series is to offer a platform for Deakins to dispense his wisdom for either young filmmakers or cinephiles who pick up their jaws and wonder how he achieved such sterling, magnificent portraits. “Over the years, we have done many Q&As and, afterwards, answered individual questions and realized that we often answer the same questions,” James Deakins told Collider. “So the idea of a podcast came to me late last year and Roger thought it would be something interesting.” James went on to credit the “s...
The Sundance Film Festival may have been a contributing factor to the spread of COVID-19, at least according to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter. The publication profiled several attendees — from festival regulars to one anonymous high-profile actor — all of whom reported similar symptoms linked to the coronavirus. One of the report’s more forthcoming interviews involved actress Ashley Jackson, who admitted that she and her colleagues had been calling their illness the “the Sundance Plague” at the time. “We all had the same symptoms, all had the cough, all had trouble breathing at night,” she explained. “Some of us got humidifiers and some got oxygen.” Eventually, Jackson recovered three weeks later. However, once news of COVID-19 began to spread, she stopped speculating and contacte...
DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! It’s been 30 years since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit theaters, which means the titular heroes are now in their middle-age. To celebrate, the original cast and crew are reuniting online for a virtual pizza party. Actress Judith Hoag, aka April O’Neil, announced the event in an all-too-cute video, saying: “We want to get together, hang out with you, and eat some pizza. I personally will probably be having a martini while I’m doing it.” The event goes down on Saturday, May 23rd, which just so happens to be Turtle Day. There’s no scheduled time in place yet, but you can keep an eye out on the event’s Facebook page for more information — and behind-the-scenes materials. Editors’ Picks That also includes the guest list, which has yet to be announced. With Hoag involve...
How many passwords do you have across all your streaming accounts? Now, how many of them do you share with family, friends, and loved ones? Probably a lot. Probably most of you. Especially if we’re to believe a new report by by Cordcutting.com, which states that 44 million U.S. adults are using shared passwords for streaming services. That’s a whole lot of Netflix and chilling for free, and not surprisingly, it’s gone up in 2020 for a couple of networks. For both Netflix and Amazon Prime, the amount of freeloaders have increased by 14.4% and 13.9%, respectively. Though, oddly enough, Hulu has been spared of millions of moochers as they’re seeing a decline of 17.2%. When those numbers are translated into dollars, you can almost hear the sighs and smell the sweat from the suits at Netflix an...
Tom Cruise has scaled skyscrapers, he’s hung from the side of a flying plane, he’s jumped from an even higher plane, and he’s nearly grown gils while free diving underwater. For his next stunt, however, he wants to leave Earth altogether — and he’s found a perfect partner-in-crime to make it happen. According to Deadline, the blockbuster star is working with Elon Musk, his Space X program, and NASA to shoot the first narrative feature film in space. They report this isn’t for one of the forthcoming Mission: Impossible films, both of which are currently being delayed amidst the pandemic, but for another film altogether. Update: NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine has confirmed the project, saying, “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular m...
