DaBaby Dropped From Three More Music Festivals the Day After His Apology

iHeartRadio Fest issued the following statement to Rolling Stone: “DaBaby will no longer be performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival Daytime Stage.” The festival has not made any similar statements on its social media accounts. The Blame It on Baby rapper issued a formal apology on his Instagram account on Monday (Aug. 2) after he lost the initial trio of festival gigs. “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important. Love to all. God bless,” he wrote in a lengthy note before signing off with his stage name. The controversy stems from DaBaby’s July 25 set at Rolling Loud in Miami, where he ...

My First Fest Back: Lollapalooza Founder Perry Farrell on ‘The Eye of the Hurricane’

I think that this moment in time is extremely important in history as the country is coming back, getting through a pandemic. We’re right on the other side of it, [but] we’re still in it and it might be another year before we’re fully away from it. It depends on our actions. And I think there was a great divide that was caused by that last president, and other people around the world, and we’re all recovering from that but we’re gaining our strength and we are mighty — and we’re going to pull this off. We’re in a very tough situation, but I love the fact that we’re actually in the eye of the hurricane and we did the right thing — and when I say we, I don’t just mean Lollapalooza. I mean the mayor, I mean the city of Chicago. We all figured it out together, “Hey, we can use this...

DaBaby Replaced on Day N Vegas Lineup After Homophobic Comments

During his Rolling Loud performance in Miami two weeks ago, Baby uttered homophobic and misogynistic comments. “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” he said to attendees. “Ladies, if your p—y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking di– in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.” His comments sparked outrage across the LGBTQ community, and many artists, including Elton John, Madonna and Demi Lovato, condemned Baby for his statements. Dua Lipa, who collaborated with DaBaby on a remix of her song “Levitating,” said she was “surprised&...

Additionally, Fonsi will receive the iHeartRadio Corazón Latino Award, honoring “his big heart through his selfless work enhancing the lives, heritage and future of the Latin community,” an official statement expressed. “Nothing matches the energy of live Latin music,” Santos said. “After a wonderful virtual event in 2020, we are excited to be back in person at the Amway Center with a truly impressive lineup. We are especially excited to present Luis Fonsi with the iHeartRadio Corazón Latino Award, for his dedication to uplifting the Latin community and sharing Latin culture around the world.” The concert will stream exclusively via LiveXLive, on various iHeartMedia Spanish radio stations, and broadcast live on iHearRadio.com. Tickets for iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina will go on sale at noon E...

DaBaby Issues Formal Apology for Homophobic Comments After Lost Festival Gigs

Last week, DaBaby did not apologize for his statements and instead said that individuals who did not pay to attend the event should “shut the f— up.” The following day, the “Rockstar” rapper fired off several messages on Twitter about the critical response to his homophobic comments, apologizing to anyone affected by HIV/AIDS for his “insensitive” remarks but holding firm on the rest of his comments. “Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes,” he wrote in the new note. “As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me— knowing th...

Post Malone Shines On His Own During Lollapalooza Headline Set: 5 Best Moments

Here were the five best moments from Post Malone’s triumphant Lollapalooza headlining set: The Opening “Wow.” Factor One week ahead of Lollapalooza, Post Malone performed at Rolling Loud Miami and kicked off his set with “Saint-Tropez,” one of the highlights of 2019’s Hollywood’s Bleeding. That’s a fine set-starter, but “Wow.,” which introduced his Lollapalooza performance, was more explosive, all coiled hooks and chest-thumping boasts designed to make an audience turn up to a dizzying degree. It also helped that Post Malone delivered lines like “I know it piss you off to see me winning” while multiple feet above the main stage: when the curtain dropped to reveal the set, he was positioned on a raised platform, prowling the scaffolding for the opening song. In short, Post Malone’s intro ju...

Tyler, The Creator Brings Out Igor During Lollapalooza Headlining Set: 5 Best Moments

For a set so steeped in the concept of escapism, it oddly and unintentionally suited a moment in which 100,000 fans were seeking just that by attending the first major festival to return since the start of the pandemic — and as the COVID-19 Delta variant is on the rise. While Tyler never made any remarks on the return of live music as night one headliner Miley Cyrus did, to do so would have also pulled attendees out of the scene he aimed to set. Here are the five best parts of Tyler, The Creator’s Lolla headlining gig. The Theatrics From the moment Tyler came on stage to the final second of his set, he acted as if every spare moment was part of a music video, moving intentionally with each step and smile. In fact, under his bellhop outfit was the very same look he wore in the “...

Machine Gun Kelly Performs Surprise Set at Lollapalooza

Around 5 p.m. on day three of Lollapalooza (July 31), fans were alerted to a special last-minute addition to the schedule: an “intimate” set from chart-topper Machine Gun Kelly. An hour later, the artist took to the Bud Light Seltzer Sessions side stage to perform in front of a crowd 20 times what the space allowed for. After opening with “Kiss Kiss” off his Billboard 200 No. 1 album Tickets To My Downfall, the rocker launched into a cover of Paramore’s “Misery Business.” From there, he ripped through the rest of the albums greatest hits from “My Ex’s Best Friend” to “Bloody Valentine” and “Drunk Face.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Miley Cyrus Calls Lollapalooza ‘Light at the End Of the Tunnel’: 5 Best Moments From Her Set

Opening night headliner Miley Cyrus perhaps said it best when she referenced a lyric from “Malibu” — “Hoping I just stay the same and nothing will change” — after performing the track. “The reason why that wish is outlandish and ridiculous is because everything will change — it’s inevitable,” she told the densely packed crowd at the south end of Grant Park. “And I think it was a very humbling experience for all of us to be humanized together and experience the last year and a half, where we were all experiencing the pain of being disconnected, and I think we remembered the value of having one another in our lives. And I think the masks reminded us how much a stranger’s smile could really mean to us, because sometimes, we take that s— for granted.” The star continued to sh...

“crowd is a– tho,” he commented in another tweet. “Industry Baby,” produced by Take a Daytrip and Kanye West, was just released on July 23 and is slated to be on Lil Nas X’s forthcoming debut studio album, Montero. “saying this in advance so y’all won’t blame me. A$AP Rocky & Bobby Shmurda Bring New York Swagger to Miami’s 2021 Rolling Loud Festival

“I’ve been out here all week,” he exclaimed before his preview. “We been shooting videos for y’all all week. Y’all wanna hear some new sh–?” Though he was caught in the studio with Meek Mill and DaBaby over the last few months, the pair of hard-hitting tracks he performed found Bobby riding solo without any features. Before he exited, he did dish out two more fan favorites: “Bobby B–ch” and “Computers” sans Rowdy Rebel.  Following Shmurda’s performance, fans received a high-octane showing from Lil Baby, who graced the Ciroc Stage before the night’s closer A$AP Rocky. Fresh from his Paris Fashion Week trip, Baby didn’t miss a step. From DJ Khaled’s “Every Chance I Get” to h...

The Killers, Khalid & Grimes Headline Today’s Splendour XR Virtual Reality Festival

The entire two-day experience costs $35, or $20 for one day, which met organizers’ goal of “being cheap and accessible,” says Splendour in the Grass co-producer Jessica Ducrou, who is developing this year’s event with co-producer Paul Piticco. “We wanted to re-create the festival as it exists in real life. People who’ve been will be able to connect with the space and their memories and their experiences and people that haven’t been will get to see what it looks like.” Ducrou is describing the festival as extended reality, taking what fans are used to experiencing online and augmenting the realism using virtual reality headsets and spatial sound, noting “it’s more than watching a stream — it’s an immersive...
