Ex-NIMASA chief sentenced to jail for N1.5bn fraud
A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced a former Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Executive Director (ED), Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba, to seven years imprisonment for laundering N1.5 billion. Agaba, who was in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping, was said to have looted the money from the agency. Agaba and nine others were charged before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2015. Court adjourns suit challenging Akindele, others’ conviction
Reuters A Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday adjourned until July 21, to hear a suit challenging the legality of the conviction of Funke Akindele, her husband, Abdu-rasheed Bello, and 236 others. The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, says the state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) is resuming its investigation of allegations of fraud against the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, after the court threw out suits challenging the process. The commission is investigating Sanusi over an alleged N2.2 billion land racketeering in Gandun Sarki area of Kano. Man jailed five years for trafficking 18-year-old girl to Libya for prostitution
Twitter A 66-year-old man was on Thursday sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Federal High Court, Makurdi, Benue State, for trafficking an 18-year-old lady to Mali for forced labour and prostitution.
