I don’t know about you, but I’m really in the mood to practically toss aside my style and let it run wild. Every spring feels like a perfect time to scroll the internet for unnecessarily gorgeous accessories, but this year feels especially so. Just plain gorgeous, not necessarily practical, accessories. Because for me (and I suspect I’m not alone), there’s such a lovely comfort in looking at beautiful things. Sometimes accessories don’t need to serve any other purpose than to spark joy in one’s outfits. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. You know what we like a lot at Who What Wear? Dresses, that’s what. For regular readers, this will come as absolutely no surprise. Nothing, and especially right now when we all need a bit of escapism, brings us more joy than discovering gorgeous pieces to lift our spirits. While we’re being mindful of budgets, there are a few hero items we’ve spotted on the high street. Case in point: a green dress from COS. Yes, it might sound a little surprising and hardly a classic piece you’d have in your wardrobe, but honestly, it is. The frock in question is made of seersucker material, long with thick straps in a perfect pastel and fluoro green. It looks great by itself and over white tees. Oh, and it’s currently on sale. Keep scrolling to see how to style it, and then ...
While this certainly isn’t the way any of us expected spring 2020 to unfold, I take comfort in the fact that, together, we’re all making significant efforts to work from home where we are able to and remain indoors. But that doesn’t mean you need to succumb to wearing your pyjamas 24/7. I recommend you certainly make the most of it, but once you’re keen to start wearing proper clothes again, turn your attention back to this article. I’ve been keeping a close eye on what some of my favourite influencers have been wearing while in their homes over the last week, and they’re dressing with the same chic aplomb I’ve come to expect—albeit sans shoes much of the time. And the best part is you likely already own the items you need to r...
Celebrity stylist Allison Bornstein is someone I always look to for great fashion advice. Not only does she dress her clients, such as Katie Holmes, in seriously covetable outfits, but she also makes it a point to make cool style accessible to everyone. In my opinion, she is exactly the type of person we need in fashion right now. Her Instagram (@allisonbornstein6) is an amazing resource for fashion ideas, as she uses the platform to bring her expertise to everyone, not just her A-list clientele. There, she breaks down exactly how to wear wardrobe staples and trends at all price points. Right now, she’s offering FaceTime consultations that walk people through their personal styling questions, meaning face-to-face time with an industry expert to guide ...
The lockdown has provided endless challenges for businesses around the world, however, it has been amazing to see which brands have quickly innovated and thought of ways to carry on working while still closely following the restrictions. As photoshoots have now been cancelled, one of the main hurdles for fashion brands is how they can photograph their upcoming collections. Models are shooting campaigns by themselves on their sofas and photographers are transforming front rooms into makeshift studios. One of the best solutions I’ve seen is Jacquemus’ latest images, where the designer, Simon Porte Jacquemus, photographed his grandmother Liline among the spring blossom in France in his designs. It’s the perfect snapshot for summer 2020 when family is top of mind fo...
The fashion industry isn’t just a frivolous occupation. Despite family, friends and acquaintances asking me with more frequency than I care to admit, it’s not The Devil Wears Prada or Ugly Betty. Yes, people do wear the latest designer bags and our wardrobes can seem excessive. I may have even seen an editor or three have a meltdown, but fashion is so much more than expensive clothes. Fashion is the place where history, culture and art meet. It is representative of people, places and important moments in time. It denotes seismic changes in society and gives a means of expression to people who feel marginalised. This isn’t hyperbole—fashion has often been a route for women to gain emancipation. In the ’60s, hemlines became progressively shorter. While they had ...
With spring now officially here, our outfits are set to be in a period of transition. While many of us are currently living in the comfort of leggings and tracksuits, it’s hard not to mentally plan the outfits we’ll wear once life returns to normal. For me, I know I’ll be re-wearing many of my old favourites and utilising the outfits I’ve loved in the past. And although it can seem boring to repeat the same looks time and time again, I’ve gained a few tricks over the years to help me feel fresh even when I’m wearing the same combination of items. Enter accessories. Whether it be a bold, printed scarf, a statement belt, some eye-catching jewellery or a pair of jazzy socks, accessories have to ability to transform your entire outfit. For example, a white T...
While the idea of jetting off to a far-flung location and spending days on end by a sandy beach with crystal blue water or at a hotel pool with Aperol Spritz in hand might seem like an impossibility right now, there’s no denying that summer is on its way. And despite the fact that this year, summer is set to look entirely different. With travel out of the question and social distancing rules enforced, there’s no reason we shouldn’t make the best of our current situation. Yes, trips might be on hold, but planing your summer wardrobe for this year and the years ahead doesn’t have to be. That is why I’ve scoured the internet to find the best bikinis to wear on your balcony or in your backyard this summer. If you’re looking for a little summ...
We’re used to seeing outfit pictures all over our feeds, but now influencers are inviting us into their homes, and we can’t RSVP quickly enough. Not only are they tagging their latest outfits, but many of fashion’s finest are also granting access to their chic abodes and tagging their interior buys as well. Now you can snap up their wardrobes and get their same homewares (sofa, cushions, and mirrors included). So we decided to round up the must-haves of Instagram’s chicest residencies. From large-scale furniture items to the small accessories that make a huge difference to the overall mood of a room, be prepared to want to shop not just their outfits but their home décor from here on out. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a da...
Linen and I go way back. Ever since my early 20s, I’ve been a fan of white linen trousers—the main reason being I felt like they made me appear more sophisticated. And actually, I think they did. The thing about linen is that it immediately makes everyone think you’re a grown-up and you’ve got yourself together, even when it looks a little wrinkled. It has a slouchy nonchalance that gives the impression you’re a rich lady on holiday. Right now, linen is having a revival thanks to the resurgence of the minimalist trend over the past few seasons, and it’s a material I find myself returning to every summer. It’s especially ideal for keeping you cool in heatwaves but means you can still stay smart. Handily, Uniqlo has just launched its l...
As a country known for picturesque beaches and relatively sunny weather all year round, there’s little wonder Australian designers excel when it comes to creating summer collections. After all, if there’s one thing Australians inherently know, it’s how to dress for a warmer climate. Between swimwear-focused brands and minimalist resortwear labels, Australian designers have a reputation globally for creating coveted warm-weather essentials that fashion girls love. Though, don’t just take my (relatively biased, Australian-born) word for it. Industry insiders agree, as recently there has been an increase in influencers dressed in dreamy Aussie brands. From Brittany Bathgate sporting the ultimate LBD (long black dress) by SIR the Label to Bettina Lo...
As far as high-street labels go, this summer I have to say I have been very impressed with the selection at H&M. From linen-blend joggers to puff-sleeve dresses, the brand has created an elevated offering of polished, expensive-looking pieces that seem much more high-end than their very reasonable price tags. In fact, a few of the pieces in the brand’s recent collection could easily be mistaken for designer and have already caught the attention of several in-the-know influencers. Made in an airy, cotton-blend fabric, H&M’s Crinkled Wrapover Blouse has been worn by both Katherine Ormerod and Claire Wakeman and just so happens to be the only purchase I’ve treated myself to during lockdown. Featuring a woven texture and oversize puff sleeves, the...
