Unless I’m working out, I’m not generally a fan of sweating. It’s not that I object to perspiring, but I hate feeling too hot. I’m a Northerner, so anything that’s above 16 degrees feels boiling, quite frankly. So when it comes to spring/summer wardrobes, I tend to stick to the principles of wearing loose garments and usually in cotton. Oh but fashion had other plans for me this season. What had started as the stirrings of a trend at the end of last summer is now set to be a full-fledged look for the coming warmer months: summer leather. Yes, I hear you scoff, but if you think about it, we’ve always worn biker jackets during July and August evenings. However, that’s not just what I’m talking about. I mean leather wrap dresses, minis, pencil s...
As contemporary labels go, Faithfull The Brand has been on my radar quite a lot recently. Solidifying itself as a favourite amongst It-girls and influencers the Indonesia-based label has taken up a prominent position on my Instagram feed, as it seems that just about every member of the style set is a fan of label’s vibrant florals and eye-catching patterned pieces. From Chrissy Rutherford to Lucy Williams, influencers everywhere are championing the brand’s summer-ready styles that truly embody the spirit of the season. Over the last year, I’ve kept a mental note of all the Faithfull the Brand items I’ve seen on Instagram, that I’d love to add to my closet. Whether it be an oh-so-cool tie-dye linen shirt or a wear-anywhere floral mini ...
In high school, my uniform was a very vibrant shade of purple. Everything from my school dress to my blazer and school bag was created in the violet hue. In fact, the school was so committed to our school colour that several classrooms had purple carpets and even the chairs in our assembly hall matched the consistent theme. After being completely surrounded by the colour for six years, upon leaving high-school I swore I’d never wear purple again. And over the last ten years, I’ve managed to stay true to this rule, practically avoiding the hue altogether—even in 2018 when ultra violet was dubbed Pantone’s colour of the year. However, this summer, it seems my evasion of the shade is set to end as a few key looks have managed to convince me to try the colour once more. ...
When it comes to making a new purchase, I always try to think about its potential for longevity. Will this item stand the test of time? Will I still like and want to wear it in a year? Two years? Five years? In my time, there are many items I’ve added to cart that have subsequently failed that test and simply become ghosts of checkouts past. However, over the years, I’ve learned that there are three summer patterns that will never fail the timeless test, as summer after summer, I find myself gravitating toward polka dots, stripes and gingham. From T-shirts to swimwear, summer dresses to shorts, these three patterns are so classic they can adorn any one of your favourite wardrobe items and give the piece an instantly classic feel. I’ve perso...
From extremely tiny handbags to architectural heels and oversize straw hats, over the years, there have been many trends that could be traced back to Simon Porte Jacquemus. The buzzy designer is a favourite amongst celebrities and influencers alike, having managed to start trends which capture the attention of the fashion crowd globally. And this summer is no different, as the designer can likely be credited for the style set’s current obsession with bright pink blazers and suits. Jacquemus debuted its spring/summer 2020 collection last year amongst the idyllic backdrop of a lavender field the south of France. During the show, models walked down a vibrant pink runway that stretched over the horizon and while there were, of course, many noteworthy looks debuted that day, one of ...

When it comes to our wardrobes, there are a few key items that tend to get all the limelight. Dresses, for example, are earmarked for life’s most special occasions, and each season, their trends are dissected, analysed and beloved by the masses. Sarah Jessica Parker built an entire career out of an affinity for shoes, not only playing a character who was obsessed with the item but also subsequently parlaying that into a footwear brand of her own. Handbags arguably garner the most hype. After all, who remembers the countless articles that arose after Kylie Jenner gave the world a glimpse into her bag closet? Though today, we’re here to talk about one of the more underrated wardrobe staples: skirts. Personally, I think the item doesn’t get nearly e...
When it comes to ’80s fashion, we have a (surprising) amount to be thankful for. While the decade previously hadn’t influenced our wardrobes for a long time, in recent years, we’ve come to the realisation that all the most current trends today are courtesy of the ’80s. Now, if you’re not too familiar with the nuances of this era, there are a few standout looks we’re sure you’ll recognise: big shoulders, white jeans, underwear as outerwear and oversize jewellery. It was the decade of the power dresser but also of punks. It gave us Madonna, Sade, Tina Turner and Cher, plus numerous other superstars whose sense of style influences many right now. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating shoul...

The Net-a-Porter summer sale has just launched, with many of the pieces reduced straight to 50%. Trust us when we say there’s so much good stuff to sift through this year, but like any sale clicking through hundreds of pages of products can be a little overwhelming. This is where we come in. The sales are always a chance to buy a little bit better than you would normally—so we recommend before you dive straight in thinking what is missing in your wardrobe, what would be really worth upgrading, and if you have any big events to forward plan for. For example, these sales are a great opportunity to buy wedding guest dresses for all the rescheduled 2020 weddings which will be taking place next year. Handbags, shoes and designer dresses are the categories we always check fi...
As one of our go-to stores for minimalist gems, COS has always been on our radar for timeless summer staples. The store specialises in those oversized silhouettes and tailored items you can easily wear over and over again. The kind of products that will stay in your wardrobe for seasons to come. Evidently, this summer, editors are not the only ones championing the high-street store as several influencers have also been seen in the brand’s summer dress styles. From their neon green seersucker maxi, to their pastel knitted midi dress, COS’ dress collection certainly seems to be a winner amongst the style set this season. Using quality fabrications such as cotton and linen, simple silhouettes and vibrant block colours, it’s easy to see why COS dresses are so...
Last September, post–fashion week, we knew what we were going to see everywhere come summer 2020. The biggest trends included leather (for summer? Actually groundbreaking), pretty white dresses and Bermuda-style shorts. While these trends and many others were pretty much guaranteed at the beginning of the year, January now feels very much like a lifetime ago. Since then, countries across the world have been locked down with few people spending time outside their homes. This has, undoubtedly, led to a whole host of other trends emerging for summer 2020 that we couldn’t have predicted even six weeks ago. With plenty of people now working from home, basic white vest tops and joggers have shot to the top of our shopping lists. But it’s also the cancelled weddings and holidays t...
