M83 Announce New Album, “Fantasy”

Famed electronic music group M83 have announced a new album, Fantasy. Fantasy is M83’s ninth studio album and first since 2019’s DSVII. It’s been confirmed for a March 17th release via Other Suns, a record label founded by Anthony Gonzalez, the band’s frontman. M83 recently released “Oceans Niagara,” the lead single from Fantasy, an atmospheric track that swells from its first bar all the way to its cathartic coda. The song dropped alongside an otherworldly music video directed by Gonzalez’s brother Yann, which has a distinctly retro feel with gritty animations, vintage clothing and kaleidoscopic snapshots from fanciful sets. Edie Falco Thought Avatar: The Way of Water Already Came Out and Just Flopped

If it feels like we’ve been waiting for Avatar: The Way of Water for over a decade to you, it’s because we literally have been. Delays on the long-awaited Avatar sequel from James Cameron have even thrown off new cast member Edie Falco, who shot her scenes so long ago that she just figured the film had already come out and just “didn’t do very well.” “I saw the first one when it was out,” Falco said during a recent appearance on The View. “The second Avatar I shot four years ago. I’ve been busy and doing stuff. Somebody mentioned Avatar and I thought, ‘Oh, I guess it came out and it didn’t do very well because I didn’t hear anything about it.’ It happens! The actor went on: “Someone recently said, ‘Avatar is coming out,’ and I said, ‘Oh, it hasn’t come out yet?’ I will never work...

Once described as “Game of Thrones with Princess Bride and with a little bit of Spinal Tap,” Honor Among Thieves boasts a cast led by Chris Pine, Rege-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, Jason Wong, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Sophia Lillis. “It’s about finding your own hero within,” Rodriguez says of the film’s premise in the new clip. “And each character has their own version of that journey.” Pi...

Willow Review: Fantasy Television That’s Here For a Good Time

The Pitch: It’s been quite a time for super-serious sci-fi and fantasy epics, as anyone who’s attempted to keep up with House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Sandman, and many, many other shows will tell you. But here comes Disney+’s Willow, with a modern rock song in its heart, a young hot ensemble ready to jump into action, and its own take on swords and sorcery to share. Willow? You Mean Three-Time MTV Video Music Award Nominee Willow, Don’t You? Okay, as a longtime fan of the 1988 film Willow, a person who has spent a lifetime yelling “What do you mean, you haven’t seen Willow?” at people… I know that there’s a good chance that most people are not familiar with the original Ron Howard-directed fantasy adventure. So here’s the deal: In the original movie (w...

Avatar: The Way of Water Gets First Official Trailer: Watch

Over a decade after its release, Avatar will return this December with Avatar: The Way of Water, and the trailer for the long-awaited sequel is finally out. Check out the clip below. Avatar: The Way of Water follows the Sully family, whose patriarch Jake (Sam Worthington) ended the first movie by leaving his human body to live as a Na’vi with his partner, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). As star Sigourney Weaver put it earlier this year, “The story is about family, about our families trying to stay together [and] the lengths to which we all go to protect each other and protect the place where we live.” Worthington, Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald all reprise their roles from the original Avatar, while Weaver ...

House of the Dragon Season 2 Probably Won’t Premiere Until 2024

And just like that, House of the Dragon Season 1 is over — but it’ll be quite a while before we get to find out what happens next in Westeros, as HBO and HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys confirmed that the series’ second season likely won’t arrive until 2024. House of the Dragon Season 1 has seemingly had all Game of Thrones fans and their mothers in a chokehold since premiering back in August. But, it takes quite a while to build a kingdom — let alone seven! — and showrunners don’t want to make a promise they can’t keep. “Don’t expect it in ’23, but I think sometime in ’24,” Bloys told Vulture. He went on: “We’re just starting to put the plan together, and just like last time, there are so many unknowns. It’s not to be coy or secretive, but you don’t want...

Even Maisie Williams Thinks Game of Thrones “Definitely Fell Off at the End”

Maisie Williams doesn’t blame you if you checked out of Game of Thrones before the series finale: The actress admits she thinks the hit HBO show, which made her a household name, “definitely fell off at the end.” Williams, who played Arya Stark in all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, got candid about the series on a recent Twitch stream with her brother James: “Honestly, it kinda popped off,” she said of her recent rewatch of the show. “For the longest time… I could never see it from the outside. So I could never say that and actually understand it. For the first time, it feels good to be proud of it. It was 10 years of my life. It feels nice.” But even Winterfell’s greatest had to admit that GoT got tedious as it reached its final seasons. Thankfully, however, Williams see...

George R. R. Martin Under Fire for Working with Co-Authors Accused of Racism

George R.R. Martin is under fire for enlisting married author couple Elio M. García Jr. and Linda Antonsson as co-writers on his upcoming book The Rise of the Dragon: An Illustrated History of the Targaryen Dynasty, Volume One amid accusations of racism. García and Antonsson are longtime Game of Thrones fans and began contributing to Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series since long before it was adapted into an HBO smash. But some casting choices in the TV show and its new spinoff House of the Dragon prompted the pair to make some eyebrow-raising critiques: For example, Antonsson argued that Black actor Steve Toussaint was miscast as Corlys in House of the Dragon, because (via Variety) “there are no Black Valyrians and there should not be any in the show...
