Gunmen abduct graduate, one other in Ondo community
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have created tension in Ikaram Akoko, in Akoko North West council area of Ondo State, following the abduction of two residents of the community including a graduate, identified as Gbodi. It was gathered that the two victims were abducted within 24 hours in the community while the abductors of one of the victims demanded N10m to secure the freedom of the victim. Gbodi, the HND graduate, was abducted along Okeagbe Ikaram highway while returning from his farm which is few kilometres from his residence, Ikaram, the other victim was kidnapped very close to where some construction workers were abducted recently along Ikaram/Akunu highway. Justice Abdul Kafarati, the immediate past Chief Justice of the High Court of the Federation, has passed away. Justice Kafarati, who was once the Attorney General of Bauchi state gave his last breath on Thursday night. A family source who announced his passing in a statement said: “Innalillahi Wa inna ilaihi Rajiun. It is with deep sorry that I announced the passing away of our elder statesman, Hon Justice Abdul Kafarati the immediate past Chief Justice of High court of the Federation and former Bauchi State Attorney General which occurred this night (Thursday) after magrib Salat at Abuja.” He will be buried today after the Juma’at prayers at Janazah. Edo Head of Service regains freedom from kidnappers
Mr Anthony Okungbowa, Edo state Head of Service (HoS), who was abducted on Saturday evening along Oza Road, in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state, has regained his freedom. The HoS was released by his abductors on Monday night according to a family source, who pleaded anonymity. The source said that Okungbowa was set free after payment of an undisclosed amount as ransom demanded by his kidnappers and that the HoS was hale and hearty since his release. The family source disclosed that the ransom was paid through a collaboration between the family and the State government. “We just want to thank God that our brother has been set free and in good health condition,” said the source. Gunmen kidnap Edo deputy governor’s brother
A younger brother of the Deputy Governor of Edo State identified as Frederick Shaibu has been kidnapped by gunmen while taking his kids to school in Irhiri, Benin. As of the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the family. A family source told newsmen that the incident happened on Monday. The source said, “They attacked him and took him away. It happened in the Aruogba area, Irhiri around 07 am when he was driving his children to school. The children were left by the gunmen who took their father away.
