5 Cant-Miss Rising Artists at HARD Summer 2021

It’s finally HARD Summer week, and SoCal EDM fans are fired up. After taking last year off as a result of the pandemic, Insomniac Events’ esteemed festival will now debut at the newly expanded NOS Events Center this weekend in San Bernardino. Due to heat and COVID-19 safety concerns, the event will have all open air stages, with the exception of the Pink Stage. The diverse lineup features a wide range of electronic music artists as well as a number of the biggest artists in the hip-hop scene, such as Future and 2 Chainz. For many, it’s not their first rodeo. Some of the fest’s longtime favorites, such as RL Grime, DJ Snake, and Malaa are set to take the stage for the nth time. On the other hand, several rising artists will be performing that you may or may not be familiar with. For a...

HARD Summer Shares 2021 Set Times and Festival Map

It’s HARD Summer week, and the organizers of the famed SoCal festival have announced its set times and festival map. Standing out on the festival map are the ample misting stations and shaded, grassy areas to keep revelers cool throughout the day, as temperatures are expected to reach around 100°. With four open air stages (the Pink Stage will be tented) and multiple walkways, the spacious venue should give attendees plenty of room to dance and stay cool. Fans can have some extra fun at the Corona Electric Beach tent, Red Bull tent, ferris wheel, and even some pools in the VIP section at the Hard Stage. Check out the festival map below. The set times have been released and as always, that comes with stressful conflicts of favorite artists playing at the same time. How will you choose betwe...

Someone Recorded ILLENIUM, Said The Sky, and Dabin’s Entire Global Dance Festival Set: Watch

There’s commitment, and then there’s holding up your phone camera for well over an hour to record a DJ set by three of EDM’s biggest stars for the world to enjoy. That’s exactly what an intrepid YouTuber did over the weekend at Denver’s Global Dance Festival over the weekend, and EDM fans couldn’t be happier to relive the epic set performed by ILLENIUM, Said The Sky, and Dabin—or catch it for the very first time. The recording offers great quality and the entire tracklist of the superstar trio’s DJ set from last weekend, despite some moments where “a couple of girls were screaming obnoxiously in some parts of the set,” according to the user. Most viewers are willing to look past that to hear ILLENIUM, Said The S...

Lollapalooza Ramps Up Personnel to Support COVID-19 Vaccine Screening Measures

Lollapalooza is just a couple of days away from kicking off its 30th annual event and preparations are in the final stages. Of course this year’s event proves to be especially unique. Following an online-only edition in 2020, Lollapalooza is returning to form with a plan that puts public health top of mind. This year Lollapalooza is staffing up particularly heavily to support the coronavirus screening efforts that will be taking place at the festival’s front gates. At the City of Chicago’s direction as well as the Department of Public Health, all attendees will need to produce a printed vaccine card or proof of a negative COVID-19 test in order to gain entry.  Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival. Dutch Government Extends Music Festival Ban Through August

An update to Dutch COVID-19 regulations has prolonged a ban on the nation’s music festivals for at least another month, citing continued risks to public health in the immediate term. Over the last few months the relationship between world-renowned Dutch festival brands and the government has soured, to say the least. Despite high hopes for a triumphant 2021 return for Tomorrowland, among other events, festival organizers continue to cite a lack of clarity in regulation and direction from the government as the cause for their indefinite postponement.  In the case of Tomorrowland, as recently as June the government indicated a favorable outlook in terms of their efforts to green-light a 2021 edition in late August. By late July, the festival had been cancelled after their app...

Madeon Announces Rare Surprise Performance in Los Angeles

Few artists in the electronic music scene have a connection with their fans quite like Madeon. The Grammy-nominated Good Faith producer has always put his fanbase first, publicly sharing his gratitude for their undying support whenever he has the chance. It’s one of the reasons he’s solidified himself one of the dance music community’s most beloved artists over the course of the last decade. His latest gesture comes in the form of a surprise concert in Los Angeles, where he will perform an intimate DJ set for his “most enthusiastic supporters” at the Roxy Theatre—the location of his first-ever show in the City of Angels. Check out the clip below to turn back the clock to 2012, when Madeon threw down at the iconic venue.  Recommended Article...

A Nonprofit Has Planned a Rave in Ukraine for LGBTQ Rights—Outside the President’s Office

July 30th will be an interesting day for Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.  According to the Kyiv Post, a nonprofit called UkrainePride plans to host a rave event outside of the president’s office called Rave Pride. Serving as a protest for the country’s LGBTQ+ community in a similar vein as Kyiv Pride’s annual Equality March—and hosted by some of the Kyiv Pride members who split from the group—the event hopes to grab the attention of the country’s authorities and make Ukraine a safer place for the country’s queer community. As it currently stands, the only anti-discrimination measures in Ukraine’s Criminal Code contain no terminology relating to sexual orientation, and therefore don’t address attacks on LGBTQ+ people. Watch Kaskade’s Historic Performance at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles

Following Kaskade‘s historic performance at LA’s SoFi Stadium—the first-ever concert at the arena—a YouTuber has captured the dazzling experience in full. Pulling out all the stops for his mammoth performance, Kaskade brought the heat with selections that spanned his entire discography, such as his seminal song “Room For Happiness” with Skylar Grey. He also dropped a bevy of edits and mashups, like when he blended his classic “Stars Align” with HI-LO, Oliver Heldens, and Will Clarke’s house banger “Check.” Kaskade also brought out deadmau5 for an instantaneously timeless moment, wherein the longtime friends played their iconic collab “I Remember” toward the end of the unforgettable two-hour performance. As the...

Fresh Pressed Reintroduces Festivals to the Pacific Northwest

My eyes were fixated on the Tacoma skyline as I lay on the sharp, prickly grass below the only shaded structure in the venue. Gazing out into the horizon, a silhouette of high rises framed the lonesome stage that would be the focus of the evening.  Grappled by my surroundings, I was unaware of the impromptu game of Duck, Duck, Goose that had attendees cheering for the winner as she slid down to the ground. Nor was I aware of the spontaneous crowd that rose from the field to partake in a yoga session.  All throughout the venue, mini beehives of activity sprung up, all in high spirits, waiting for the reverberation of the speakers to pull them to the dancefloor. Over an hour later, the crowd cheered on as the music finally returned to Haub Family Field. Nora En Pure performing...

Next year, Monegros Desert Festival wants you to do it in a plane—dance the night away, that is. For the Spanish event’s 2022 edition, organizers have purchased a retired Airbus A330 and converted the fuselage into a stage and dance floor. “We will transform it into a club for 1,000 people,” they announced this month on social media.  Powered by a partnership with 8.6 Beer, the “Montegros 8.6 Airlines Experience” stage will officially take flight July 30th, 2022. With more than 80 artists on the festival’s lineup, including Wu-Tang Clan, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Amelie Lens, this is one event you might just want to hop on board for.  Monegros Desert Festival’s 2022 edition will be its first in five years. Founded in 1994, i...
