Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has defended his decision for overlooking players in the Nigeria Professional Football League for national team selection. Since his appointment four years ago, Super Eagles, only Heartland goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has enjoyed constant invitation into the team and many have accused him of killing other talents in the domestic league. Rohr has now defended himself and said he has invited 23 players from the local league since he took the Super Eagles in 2016, but it became difficult to continue working with the players because most of them are leaving for greener pasture. “Unfortunately, Nigeria professional football league is not playing like other leagues that are coming back, but they also have a chance to come in my team and you know I already invited 23...

Seeing the curvature of the Earth reminded us of the extraordinary natural phenomena that exist right here at home. Below, we share the best of them. 1. However Villas-Boas would last only a matter of months at Stamford Bridge, with Roberto Di Matteo eventually replacing him on an initial interim basis. Chelsea went on to claim a maiden continental crown under the Italian tactician who had become a firm fan favourite in his playing days. Lukaku, who was just a teenager and made only 12 appearances in his debut campaign, was invited to travel with ...
European Union (EU) countries must now focus on investment in public health and protecting jobs and companies, and worry about fiscal sustainability later, the European Commission said on Wednesday. European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Paolo Gentiloni said that EU should coordinate its approach to economic recovery once the coronavirus pandemic subsides in its annual recommendations to the bloc’s 27 countries. Budget gaps in all EU countries except Bulgaria will widen well beyond the EU’s usual ceiling of 3 per cent of gross domestic product this year as governments use public money to prop up economies that are expected to plunge into their deepest recessions ever this year. Public debt is also going to rocket, breaching the EU’s normal requirement that it should be fa...
