Robert Downy Jr. Co-Stars in Drama Adaptation Series of Viet Thanh Ngyuen’s ‘The Sympathizer’

Avengers: Endgame‘s Iron Man is hanging up his suit to tack his next big role. Robert Downey Jr. is set to c-star in HBO and A24‘s drama series adaptation of Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Sympathizer. The series is set to follow the novel’s cross-culture satire and thriller genre as it goes takes audiences on a journey through the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy. The novel is set in the final days of the Vietnam War and dictates the spy’s last moments before his exile in the United States. There is currently no word on who will be the lead in the series, but Deadline confirms that the film is going on a global search to look for a predominantly Vietnamese cast. The 74th annual Cannes Film Festival was briefly put on lockdown due to what initially appeared to be a bomb scare, Variety reported this morning. At 3 p.m. local time, police said that “they had found a suspicious package in a storage area at the back of the building and that they were preparing to investigate” while the festival was in full swing at the Palais des Festivals, according to Variety.
