New ‘Shang-Chi’ Featurette Explores Asian Representation in the MCU

Marvel and Disney have shared a brand new featurette for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings entitled “Ready to Rise.” The two-minute visual sees director Destin Daniel Cretton, writer Dave Callaham and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Fala Chen and Michelle Yeoh talk about Asian representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “For many of us who grew up in the West, whose parents immigrated, you know, we never really see ourselves on screen meaningfully. The virality of the “milk crate challenge” has led numerous TikTok users to recreate their own version of the challenge for the world to see. Of the sea of videos showing people climbing the pyramid of milk crates, the majority of them end in disaster. Several recent videos have shown users getting gravely hurt, or just missing fatal falls by a hair. Star Trek is set to celebrate the 55th anniversary of its television premiere of Star Trek: The Original Series in a two-hour livestream celebration on Paramount+. The livestream is set to be hosted by Wil Wheaton and Mica Burton and is a free celebration that will feature conversations between the cast and creatives from over 10 different Star Trek stories. Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill are set to star in a new Netflix comedy directed by Kenya Barris. According to sources, the still-untitled film will mark Barris’ feature directorial debut and is co-written by him and Hill. The plot remains under wraps, but reports state that it will be “an incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences shape and affect relationships,” and that “Murphy and Hill will find themselves on opposite sides of some of those divides.” The comedy will be produced by Barris via his Khalabo Ink Society banner, Hill through Strong Baby and Kevin Misher through Misher Films. ‘Train to Busan’ Receives a U.S Remake Directed by Timo Tjahjanto

A U.S remake of the popular South Korean zombie blockbuster Train to Busan by New Line Cinema has been confirmed, and fans aren’t too happy about it. The original Train to Busan film was directed by Yeon Sang-Ho and premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The movie is centered around a father and his daughter who are stuck on a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan amidst a zombie apocalypse. People on social media have now found their latest obsession, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s “doppelgänger.” Thanks to his striking resemblance, Patrol Lieutenant Eric Fields of Alabama’s Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is now being called the professional wrestler turned movie star’s lookalike. Aside from having a similar look and build, Fields also carries a similar physicality as seen in photos posted by the Sheriff’s Office on Facebook. In footage debuted at CinemaCon via The Hollywood Reporter, the feature detailed how Tom Cruise prepared for arguable the most “dangerous” stunt for Mission: Impossible 7. According to Christopher McQuarrie, director of the Mission: Impossible 7, the stunt is considered to be highly risky. Cruise had to train one year prior to filming the stunt in order to perfect it. The stunt requires the actor to perform a motorbike jump off of a cliff into a valley in Norway. In order to prepare, Cruise took 500 skydiving sessions and performed 13,000 motorbike jumps. Pixar’s ‘Dug Days’ Shorts Bring Back the Adorable Dog From ‘Up’

Disney Pixar celebrates International Dog Day with a new trailer for Dug Days, a family-friendly Up spin-off series consisting of five new shorts directed by Up writer and co-director Bob Peterson. The show is set in a quiet suburban neighborhood and features a familiar cast of characters including grandpa Carl, the wide-eyed boy-scout Russell, the derpy talking golden retriever Dug, and an elusive squirrel. “Dug is pure of heart — he’s a good soul. I think people enjoy that part of Dug,” said Peterson in a press release. “Plus, people love their dogs. We’ve gone to great lengths to include truth in dog behavior, so they see their own dogs in Dug.” The entire five-episode series will debut on September 1 on Disney+.
