Disney World EPCOT Confirms Opening Date for New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Roller Coaster

More than four years after the ride’s initial announcement, Disney World has finally announced a 2022 opening window for its upcoming Marvel attraction Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Described as a family-friendly storycoaster, Disney says that the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride will be a “totally new type of roller coaster experience” it has developed specifically for the attraction. Its compartments will be able to rotate 360 degrees to allow riders to take in the entirety of their environment as they help the Guardians save the galaxy. Despite not appearing in James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad, Will Smith is still open to reprising his role as Deadshot. In a new interview, the 53-year-old actor revealed that his absence from Gunn’s standalone sequel was actually due to a conflict in scheduling. “Yeah, I was working and they were ready to shoot. It was a timing issue,” Smith confirmed, also confirming that his role was not recast and that Idris Elba was not Deadshot. “A different character?” he checked with a person off-camera, continuing, “Alright, cool. Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, is joining The Weeknd‘s upcoming HBO show, The Idol. According to reports, the 22-year-old French-American actress has been cast as the female lead opposite of The Weeknd. The Idol is set to follow “a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult,” and while HBO has not confirmed just exactly who Depp and The Weeknd are playing, it is believed that they will portray the female pop singer and the L.A. club owner, respectively. HBO to Release Documentary About the US Capitol Insurrection

HBO has officially announced it will be releasing a documentary on the U.S. Capitol insurrection that occurred earlier this year in January. The documentary, titled Four Hours At The Capitol, explores the events that led President Donald Trump supporters to storm Capitol Hill to protest President Joe Biden’s election victory. The incident resulted in a major Congressional investigation, five deaths and Trump being banned from using social media. HBO’s film features never-before-seen footage from that day’s events and promises to be “tightly focused and comprehensive,” while also “unfolding with urgent precision” of the event. Disney+ on Wednesday announced that The Book of Boba Fett — LucasFilm‘s latest series that was first introduced in the end-credit sequence following the season two finale of The Mandalorian — is slated to premiere on Wednesday, December 29. Dong-hyuk Hwang, the director of the highly-anticipated Netflix series Squid Game, revealed more about the salesman played by Gong Yoo. As a special appearance in Episodes 1 and 9, the character on the subway recruits participants into the Squid Game by playing ddakji. WarnerMedia’s DC on Wednesday announced that it will give away free comic-book-inspired NFTs to those who register for DC FanDome, the company’s global virtual fan event taking place on October 16. During the Tudum fan event this past weekend, Netflix revealed the official trailer for heist romantic comedy Army of Thieves, a prequel to zombie heist movie Army of the Dead. The film sees the return of Zack Snyder, known for Watchmen, 300, and Justice League, as executive producer, as well as Matthias Schweighöfer who directs and stars in the movie.
