Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has shared his second-ever solo song, and its release couldn’t be more timely. The one-off single is titled “Tomorrow’s World” and finds the veteran rocker holding onto optimism despite these incredibly trying times. “Your body is stronger/ Your mind is a wonder/ Your heart is so full of love,” Bellamy sings over a layer of piano and strings, steadfastly focusing on the positive in his life. “Don’t you waste it… Look to tomorrow.” In a statement, the UK musician said that today’s offering “captures my mood and feelings whilst in lockdown.” He continued, “I have been reminded of what really matters in life and have discovered growing optimism, appreciation and hope for the future. The song title comes from an old BBC TV show called ’Tomorrow’s World,” which I watc...

Pete Davidson is a Saturday Night Live breakout comedian from Staten Island whose firefighter father died during 9/11. Now, he’s channeled that real-life story through Judd Apatow’s lens for the new movie The King of Staten Island, the trailer for which has just been released. Co-written by Davidson, Apatow, and Dave Sirus (an SNL writing alum), the film centers on Scott, a 20-something slacker with big dreams of being a tattoo artist and a bigger weed habit. Like Davidson, Scott’s dad was killed on the job as a firefighter, and the grief from that loss 17 years earlier still weighs on him. When his mother (Marisa Tomei) begins dating another firefighter (Bill Burr) named Ray, Scott is forced to finally confront his own stagnation. The King of Staten Island also stars Steve Buscemi as a ve...
Cut Copy are back just in time to give you something to dance about. The Australian electronic group have returned with a new single called “Love Is All We Share” and a vibrant music video, both of which are a fitting mood for the current state of the world. This is the first slice of new music Cut Copy have shared in almost three years. It follows their 7-inch single “Ocean Blue” from 2018 and their fifth studio album, Haiku from Zero, which came out in 2017. According to frontperson Dan Whitford, the track came together when Cut Copy were experimenting with downsizing their sound. “’Love Is All We Share’ is a song we made using only a handful of sounds, hoping to create an intimate and unworldly atmosphere,” Whitford said in a press release. “It was written a year ago about the anxieties...

Donald Trump, a man who needs constant adulation in order to exist, hasn’t held a campaign rally since March, and it’s absolutely killing him inside. With large-scale group gatherings still a ways off, his campaign is exploring alternate ways to stage his beloved rallies. According to The Daily Beast, one option under consideration is to hold them at drive-in movie theaters. The idea of a drive-in campaign rally is “picking up some steam” within Trump’s campaign, and the president will reportedly be presented with an initial round of options as early as next week, The Daily Beast adds. Now a few things to note: Even if held at a drive-in, there’s nothing to say Trump’s loyal supporters will follow social distancing guidelines and remain in their vehicles. We’ve already seen thousands of hi...
The legend goes that on Mother’s Day of 1964, the R&B group Soul Giants handed over the reins to their new lead guitarist Frank Zappa, who then switched the band’s name to The Mothers. When record label executives balked, Zappa riffed on an old proverb about necessity, and The Mothers of Invention were born. The freak rock trailblazers went through a variety of personnel changes over the years, and by the ’70s Zappa had mostly dropped the “of Invention”. Now, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1970 lineup — which lasted only seven months — the Zappa estate has announced a gargantuan 70-song box set called The Mothers 1970, out June 26th. Featuring Aynsley Dunbar (drums), George Duke (piano/keys/trombone), Ian Underwood (organ/keys/guitar), Jeff Simmons (bass/vocals) and vo...

It’s the worst kept secret in the galaxy, but Boba Fett did not die in that sarlacc pit. Now THR is reporting that the notorious bounty hunter will appear in The Mandalorian Season 2, and he’ll be played by a familiar face (helmet?): Temuera Morrison, who scowled his way through Attack of the Clones as Boba’s clone dad Jango Fett. At one point, Disney and Lucasfilm were developing a Boba Fett standalone movie, but that project got canned after Solo disappointed. It’s no surprise that they managed to work the fan-favorite character back into the timeline, and indeed, obsessive Star Wars fans will argue that Boba Fett has already returned.
