Polo G Unleashes New Album The GOAT: Stream
The fast-rising Chicago rapper Polo G has returned with his sophomore album, and if its title is any indication, he’s pretty confident with the end result. Entitled The GOAT, the 16-track LP is streaming below via Apple Music and Spotify. Joining Polo G on the Die a Legend follow-up are Lil Baby, Stunna 4 Vegas, Mustard, and BJ The Chicago Kid. There’s also a posthumous collaboration with Juice WRLD called “Flex”. In the lead-up to the new album’s release, Polo G has unveiled “No Stupid” and “DND”. Charli XCX Releases Her Quarantine Album How I’m Feeling Now: Stream
Back in April when it became clear that the coronavirus lockdown wasn’t ending anytime soon, Charli XCX made her fans a promise. She told them she would be writing and recording an album entirely from quarantine, and she’d not only be documenting the whole thing on social media, but asking for followers’ input. The British pop star has made good on her goal, and today has released How I’m Feeling Now for all to enoy. Katy Perry Blossoms on New Song “Daisies”: Stream
Katy Perry has entered the chat with her new song “Daisies.” It’s said to be the first official single from her as-yet untitled fifth album, which will be released August 14th via Capitol Records. Over a flower bed of acoustic guitar mixed with electropop, Perry sings an anthem of resilience and perseverance — speaking directly to those who “said I’m going nowhere… tried to knock me down.” The track was produced by The Monsters & Strangerz, known for their studio work with Halsey and Zedd. By his own standards, Future has had a relatively quiet year thus far. Now, the Atlanta-born rapper, who has released 14 projects since 2012, is back with No. 15. Prince and the Revolution 1985 Live Album Finally Released: Stream
The companion album to the 1985 concert film Prince and the Revolution: Live has finally been unlocked from the vault. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. The recording was made on March 30th, 1985 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, as Prince and his famed backup band The Revolution toured in support of 1984’s Purple Rain. The set included all nine tracks off of Purple Rain, as well as a smattering of hits and B-sides from 1999, the Controversy cut “Do Me, Baby”, and even a “Yankee Doodle Dandy” interlude. Sheila E., who opened for Prince, joined him on “Baby I’m a Star”, and the concert ended with an 18-minute rendition of “Purple Rain”. Neil Young’s Unreleased 1975 Album Homegrown Finally Surfaces in June
Roughly 46 years after it was recorded, Neil Young‘s “lost” 1975 album Homegrown is finally getting released. The 12-track LP, which Young describes as “the unheard bridge between Harvest and Comes A Time,” arrives June 19th via Reprise Records. Homegrown was recorded between June of 1974 and January of 1975 with a studio band featuring Levon Helm, Ben Keith, Karl T. Himmel, Tim Drummond, Stan Szelest, and Robbie Robertson. Emmylou Harris also makes an appearance. Five of the tracks — “Love Is A Rose,” “Homegrown,” “White Line,” “Little Wing,” and “Star Of Bethlehem” — would find a home on other albums. Joe Rogan Threatens to Move to Texas over California’s Coronavirus Policies
On the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the polemical comedian complained about California’s coronavirus policies and threatened to move to Texas. The discussion was part of a broader conversation about the decision by LA County officials to extend stay-at-home orders through July. New Band Mrs. Piss (Chelsea Wolfe and Jess Gowrie) Announce Debut Album, Share Two New Songs: Stream
Mrs. Piss, courtesy of Grandstand Media Singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe and multi-instrumentalist Jess Gowrie have formed a new band, the sardonically dubbed Mrs. Piss. The duo’s debut album, Self-Surgery, is out May 29th, and they’ve shared two new songs, “Downer Surrounded by Uppers” and “Knelt”. Mrs. Piss reconciles a long musical relationship between Wolfe and Gowrie, who once played together in a band called Red Host in the early 2000s. The idea to form a new band came when the two were touring together for Wolfe’s 2017 album, Hiss Spun.
