According to reporting by the BBC, the group of missionaries made their escape under the cover of night. “When they sensed the timing was right, they found a way to open the door that was closed and blocked, filed silently to the path they [had] chosen to follow and left the place that they were held,” said Christian Aid Ministries spokesman Weston Showalter during a press conference the group held in Ohio. The Marvelettes’ Wanda Young Dies at 78

Wanda Young, a singer in the Motown group the Marvelettes, has died, the Universal Music Group–operated uDiscoverMusic.com reports. No cause of death was given. Former Miracles singer Claudette Robinson, who confirmed the news to uDiscoverMusic.com, wrote in tribute to Young, “Wanda was a star on Earth and now she is a star in Heaven. Put on some #Marvelettes and turn it up.” Wanda Young was 78 years old. Wanda LaFaye Young was born in Michigan in 1943. Mark and Wendy Lynch Redfern have announced a new album to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their magazine Under the Radar: The new Covers of Covers compilation is out March 4 (via American Laundromat). Los Angles police detectives are reviewing video and security footage from the Dec. 18 Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival in an effort to identify the person who fatally stabbed Drakeo the Ruler backstage as the late rapper’s mother vows to sue over her son’s killing.
