The Marías bilingual debut, CINEMA, received a Grammy nomination last month for best engineered album, non-classical — a rarity for an album that features Spanish lyrics. The nomination in that category goes to the engineers and mastering engineers, not to the recording artist. However, Josh Conway, one of the L.A.-based indie pop quartet’s members, is credited as one of the engineers on the album. So, Conway is nominated, along with fellow engineers Marvin Figueroa, Josh Gudwin, Neal H. Pogue and Ethan Shumaker and mastering engineer Joe LaPorta. For weeks the house had been divided over the new law and even held up the passing of the national budget. New details regarding Pusha T‘s involvement in Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album have surfaced. According to Steven Victor, during the Hawaii recording sessions for the album, Pusha T grew to be incredibly frustrated with Kanye West’s creative process. When Ye’s process proved to be a waste of Push’s time, Push left Hawaii with the intention of completely dropping out of the album. Victor explained the situation, “There’d be periods where we would be in Hawaii for like two or three weeks and no work would be getting done. So for someone like Pusha, it’s like, ‘What is this? This doesn’t make sense.’” He added, “We were supposed to ...
