Elon Musk Tweet causes Dogecoin Price to Soar

Image sourced from Hypebeast Elon Musk is making headlines after causing the price of Dogecoin to surge to an all-time high. On Sunday, the tech entrepreneur tweeted “Who let the Doge out”, resulting in a 53% rise over the last 24 hours. Dogecoin’s record value is now 8.2 cents with a market value of $10 billion – making it the 8th biggest cryptocurrency, according to Bloomberg. 🎶 Who let the Doge out 🎶 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 7, 2021 Dogecoin was introduced in 2013 as a joke. Initially, founders Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus wanted to satirize the growth of altcoins by turning the doge internet meme into a cryptocurrency. /* custom css */ .tdi_3_667.td-a-rec-img{ text-align: left; }.tdi_3_667.td-a-rec-img img{ margin: 0 auto 0 0; } Their joke quickly grew in pop...

Watch Diplo Make a Beat Using His Tesla

From self-driving to generating wet fart noises in “fart mode,” Teslas really can do it all. They can even be used to produce music. Diplo shared a video today in which he makes a beat from scratch—with his Tesla. Using nothing but his car’s dashboard, he recreated the beat of “New Love,” his new Silk City single with Mark Ronson and Ellie Goulding. What is this sorcery, you ask? It looks like Diplo used a program called TRAX, a digital audio workstation (DAW) offered by Tesla in one of the company’s recent vehicular software updates. The in-car music studio had been available to owners in late 2019, but it has now been enhanced with expanded capabilities. While TRAX is much more limited than industry-standard DAWs like Ableton a...

WhatsApp delays data sharing change after backlash

WhatsApp on Friday postponed a data-sharing change as users concerned about privacy fled the Facebook-owned messaging service and flocked to rivals Telegram and Signal. The smartphone app, a huge hit across the world, cancelled its February 8 deadline for accepting an update to its terms concerning sharing data with Facebook, saying it would use the pause to clear up misinformation around privacy and security. “We’ve heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update,” WhatsApp said in a blog post. “This update does not expand our ability to share data with Facebook.” It said it would instead “go to people gradually to review the policy at their own pace before new business options are available on May 15.” The update concerns how merchants using WhatsApp to cha...

Elon Musk Tweeted a Burning Man Meme Referencing Man Who Stormed Congress In Horned Helmet

Following the storming of the United States Capitol Building this week, the Internet was rife with memes of a man—identified as Jake Angeli—who had reportedly infiltrated the legislative chamber donning a horned helmet. However, it was one shared by Elon Musk that caught the attention of the electronic music community. The Tesla CEO chimed in on the conversation via Twitter, publishing a tweet with a meme that referenced famed arts and music festival Burning Man. “This is what happens when you cancel Burning Man,” the meme’s caption reads. Check out the tweet and photo below.

Elon Musk Becomes Richest Person in the World

Because of stock market valuations that strike some as utterly divorced from reality, Elon Musk has overtaken Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world. Via Bloomberg, his net worth is currently estimated to be $190 billion, while Bezos’ currently sits at $187 billion. Bezos had been the globe’s wealthiest man since October of 2017, when his stake in Amazon helped his fortune grow bigger than that of Bill Gates. Whatever you may think of Bezos morally, Amazon’s rising stock prices made sense. In the three years prior, the company introduced Amazon Pantry, Amazon Music, Amazon Prime Day, and drastically expanded its markets for same-day delivery. At the time it was only the world’s fourth-largest retailer, but there was every reason to think it would continue to grow. Musk’s ascension h...

Tom Cruise and Russia Are Engaged in an Actual Space Race

The movie that Tom Cruise is set to film in outer space somehow just got even more realistic. According to IndieWire, a Russian TV channel is aiming to shoot its own movie beyond our atmosphere before Cruise gets a chance to take off, creating a modern equivalent of the Cold War-era space race between America and the Soviet Union. Earlier this year, Cruise confirmed that he was teaming up with NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X program to star in a $200 million dollar film that will be partially shot on the International Space Station. The feat would make Cruise the first actor to ever film a Hollywood narrative feature in outer space. But between his prior obligations and the ongoing COVID pandemic, shooting for the still-untitled film isn’t supposed to begin until at least 2022, and Russia (cl...

Sven Väth Gifts Elon Musk With Space Travel-Themed Soundtrack

Last week, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk accepted the Axel Springer Award at the organization’s headquarters in Berlin. One of techno music’s most prolific names, the multi-decade veteran producer Sven Väth, was in attendance and spoke to Musk, presenting him with new music in honor of the occasion.  Following the ceremony, Väth shared high praise of Musk online, commending him for his risk-taking spirit in the name of benefitting mankind. “His courage to break through old structures, to rethink the transport system and so much more is benefiting humanity,” Väth wrote. “We need people like him in our time to look for answers in an ever-growing society so that we can continue to live safely and without fear.”  The producer b...

Elon Musk Teases Vegas Loop With “Tunnel Rave” Set to the Sounds of Avicii

As you may know, Elon Musk and his team of engineers at The Boring Company are building underground transportation tunnels in an effort to help speed up local and national travel. While this may lead to a faster way for dance music fans to get to shows across the country, it’s what the company recently shared on their Twitter page that should really excite them. Described as a “tunnel rave,” the new video posted by The Boring Company shows off the interior of the tunnel with pulsating, rainbow lights overhead. As heard in the clip, the “rave” is soundtracked by Avicii‘s iconic dance anthem “Levels.” This seems appropriate for the Tesla CEO after he released a dance track of his own back in February 2020. This news is also simil...

Watch Grimes Give Her Son X Æ A-XII a “Bath Rave for Babies”

At least someone gets to go to raves, albeit in a darkened room and a tub filled with flashing water toys. Grimes and Elon Musk gave their newborn baby one of the world’s most interesting names after welcoming little X Æ A-Xii into the world back in May 2020. After naming the child after some kind of magical potion out of a science fiction novel, it’s not surprising the pop star would have some avant-garde methods on how to raise her six-month-old son. If you look up “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom” in the dictionary, Grimes’ face would appear. Fans got a rare glimpse into the life of X Æ A-Xii earlier this week, when Grimes posted a few videos to her Instagram Stories of her son during bath time. Apparently when your mom is Grimes...

BMW launches new flagship iX electric SUV with 300 miles of range

BMW unveiled its next electric vehicle, the iX SUV, with 300 miles of range and gorgeous minimal interior. The iX is BMW’s technological flagship, meaning it incorporates multiple technologies that will be featured in the German automaker’s upcoming vehicles, mainly electric powertrain and driver interface. The BMW iX will be the first vehicle to feature the automaker’s fifth-generation scalable EV technology, which means it can be adjusted to accommodate vehicles of different sizes and utility. The BMW iX will go into production at the company’s Dingolfing factory, located in Southern Bavaria, Germany, in the second half of 2021 and is scheduled to arrive on US shores in early 2022.
