If you need a sign that 2023 is going to be a good year, here it is. Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding are back in the studio. On Thursday, Harris posted a photo of himself and his “I Need Your Love” collaborator in the studio together. And fans will be thrilled to hear they’re working on new music. “Back in studio!! It’s time for the third installment of our banging song trilogy,” Harris wrote. While Harris and Goulding recently celebrated 10 years since the release of their chart-topping “I Need Your Love” last year, it’s been a long time since the pair were spotted making music. It’s been nine years since they dropped their second dancefloor hit, 2014’s “Outside,” so it seems a reunion is long overdue. Scroll to Continue Recomme...
Ellie Goulding has pushed back the release of her hotly anticipated fifth album, Higher Than Heaven. Back in summer 2021, Goulding suggested Higher Than Heaven will see her returning to her EDM roots, calling it “a dance thing from outer space.” The upcoming album has now been postponed from February 3rd to March 24th. Taking to Twitter to announce the delay, the Grammy-nominated electropop star attributed it to “exciting opportunities” that came up in recent weeks. Goulding also confirmed a new single, “Like a Saviour,” and shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the track’s music video. “It’s one of my favourite videos I’ve ever done,” she wrote. “[Higher Than Heaven is] about being passionately in love,” Gouldin...
The ongoing initiative to make single-use plastics a thing of the past has broken new ground with Cove, the world’s first biodegradable water bottle. The Cove water bottle has been an effort five years in the making. Diplo, Ellie Goulding and Kygo‘s Palm Tree Crew are among the company’s high-profile list of early investors. It’s no surprise the artists are backing the future of environmentally friendly water consumption as the technology has been highly sought after by festivals around the globe looking to reduce the stubbornly large size of their carbon footprint. But the reach of Cove is likely to extend well beyond the festival niche. Most major retailers have already expressed interest, according to Cove’s Founder, Alex Totterman. Ellie Goulding is healing from the scars of the pandemic with a return to dance music. The chart-topping songstress announced her vision for her fifth studio album back in early 2021, but now, Higher Than Heaven has an official release date slated for early 2023. In a 2021 interview on “The Joe Wicks Podcast,” Goulding outlined her original vision for her upcoming LP and explained that writing in the album’s early stages was progressing seamlessly. “I spent a lot of time by myself, quite introspective. I had a backlog of things I wanted to write about,” Goulding said at the time. “It was quite deep and emotional. And this album is the opposite of that. I found this dream team of writers, who just for some reason, without even having to talk ab...
It’s 2012. “Levels” is blasting through every house party. Big room house music is dominating the club circuit. Avicii, Skrillex and Pretty Lights are headlining Ultra Music Festival. Life is good. That year, the EDM bubble looked more like a 5 Gum commercial, a mind-bending maelstrom of fantastical electronic music festivals and totemic tracks. Rave culture bubbled up from the underground and exploded through the mainstream, leading to a collective serotonin rush that still remains. And while the EDM ecosystem is still thriving, it’s markedly different from those days, when DJs and producers pumped out hits like a broken printer. 2012 gave rise to a slew of generational dance anthems, which are now relics of a bygone era. The Ellie Goulding of yesteryear is coming back. The beloved singer-songwriter has announced that a fifth album is in the works and that fans should expect to dance. In a recent interview with The Joe Wicks Podcast, Goulding revealed she’s ready to return to her electronic music roots after a period of introspective reflection. “I spent a lot of time by myself, quite introspective. I had a backlog of things I wanted to write about,” Goulding explained. “It was quite deep and emotional. And this album is the opposite of that. I found this dream team of writers, who just for some reason, without even having to talk about it, were all on the same page. Together we’re on this mission just to have fun. We just want to make music for people to dance to and forget about eve...
After the organizers of Governors Ball made the announcement earlier this year that the beloved three-day festival would be returning to Queens, it seems the festival’s 10th anniversary event is moving forward as scheduled. And while “plans” these days only mean so much, what holds more weight are lineup announcements, and this year’s edition has arrived. The lineup for Governors Ball 2021 is all-star, to stay the least. Set to take the stage will be a slew of superstar artists such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, Jamie XX, and Ellie Goulding, among many others. A-Trak will be throwing down on two separate occasions: first on Saturday with his brother—Dave 1 of Chromeo—as The Brothers Macklovitch, and again with Armand Van Helden...
There’s no limit to the impact of a collaborative song created by artists like Afrojack and David Guetta, two godfathers of modern dance music. Their relationship is actually like a day in the life of a parent. It’s unpredictable, but it gets better and better with age. Guetta and Afrojack have linked up more times in the last decade than breakups and ice cream. And each time seems to give rise to a different kind of sound, triggered by an innate propensity to take risks. They’ve now joined forces once again to test the waters of a risky sonic direction—albeit a familiar one. Afrojack and Guetta today released “Hero,” a soaring progressive house track that turns back the clock to the early 2010s, when the genre dominated the festival circuit à l...
